Two illegal ticket grabbing gangs from outside the country have infiltrated the ticket booking system of popular scenic spots nationwide through ticket grabbing software, seizing tickets and selling them at high prices online for profit. The Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau reported on August 29 that a total of 16 suspect from the two gangs had been detained by the Beijing police according to law, and the amount involved in the case was initially verified to be more than 2.3 million yuan.
It is reported that in response to public complaints about difficulties in booking and purchasing tickets for some popular scenic spots in Beijing, the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau organized criminal investigation, cybersecurity, and other units to jointly establish a special team with the scenic area management department. After investigation, two illegal ticket snatching criminal gangs from other provinces, led by Chen and Li, were discovered. With the cooperation of the local police, the Beijing police arrested 16 individuals involved in software development and illegal ticket grabbing throughout the entire chain, seized 25 mobile phones and 21 computers used in the crime, and seized 26 types of ticket grabbing software.
After investigation, two criminal gangs independently created illegal ticket grabbing software to seize tickets to popular scenic spots in many parts of the country. Later, they increased prices online and reselled the tickets, with a preliminary verification of the involved amount of over 2.3 million yuan. A few days ago, 16 suspect including Chen and Li have been detained by the Beijing police according to law, and the case is under further work.
Since the summer vacation, the Beijing police, together with relevant administrative departments, have captured more than 100 illegal suspect for scalping tickets, and killed more than 10 travel agencies for scalping tickets and criminal gangs for seizing tickets by technical means.
