"Deeply Benefiting from Africa China Cooperation" Initiative | Global | Cooperation
"The eradication of absolute poverty, the overwhelming victory in the fight against corruption, and the remarkable improvement of the ecological environment... In the past 10 years, China has made many remarkable achievements, which are inseparable from the strong leadership of the CPC. We pay close attention to China's development, and hope to learn more from it." Peter Kagwanga, director of the Kenya African Policy Research Institute, said in an exclusive interview with our reporter a few days ago.
Kagwanga stressed that the CPC adheres to the people centered development thought, and is always committed to working for the happiness of the people, so that the achievements of modernization can benefit all people more and more equitably.
Kagwanga has visited China multiple times, experiencing the haze of the past and leaving a deep impression on the current "Beijing Blue". He said with deep emotion, "China's green development practice has made us realize that economic development and environmental protection go hand in hand and can promote each other."
Kagwanga has always paid attention to and studied the CPC and China's development. "Every civilization is rooted in its own soil, and has its own development process and experience. Every country and every nation has the right to choose its own social system and development model." In his view, the CPC has found a correct path that conforms to China's national conditions, conforms to the trend of the times, and is supported by the people.
Mombasa Nairobi Railway, Naivasha Inland Container Port, Nairobi Expressway... Kagwanga knows all about Kenya China cooperation projects under the framework of the joint construction of the "the Belt and Road". "Africa has deeply benefited from Africa China cooperation. Because of China, we have transformed from an 'hopeless continent' to a 'rising continent'. He believes that similar historical experiences, common struggles, and consistent development tasks have tightly linked China and Africa.".
Kagwanga stated that China has brought education and training opportunities in markets, funds, technology, and capacity building to Africa, helping African countries improve and develop infrastructure, promoting economic and trade exchanges between African countries, strengthening exchanges and connections between different countries, ethnicities, and religions, and promoting overall economic and social development in Africa.
"China has never created a so-called 'debt trap', but has provided various types of assistance to African countries to help us get rid of poverty." Kagwanga said that in our interactions with China, the thinking and concepts of African countries have been greatly respected and understood. "Africa and China treat each other equally as partners, respect each other, and reach many consensus.".
Kagwanga highly praised China's global development initiative. "Currently, economic globalization is being impacted, and developing countries are deeply affected. The proposal of the Global Development Initiative is timely and responds to the world's demands for development and cooperation." He emphasized that "isolationism is a dead end that cannot be solved. The Global Development Initiative conforms to the trend of the times and provides a new path for Africa and other regions to achieve sustainable development."
"Peace is a prerequisite for development, and common prosperity is the foundation of sustainable security." Kagwanga believes that the Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, and Global Civilization Initiative complement and complement each other, gathering consensus, pointing out directions, and providing paths to solve common problems faced by humanity. In his view, China's proposed "Horn of Africa Peace and Development Concept" supports regional countries in addressing the triple challenges of security, development, and governance, which well reflects China's unique thinking and contribution to peace and development. "China is playing a positive and constructive role in the Horn of Africa region.".
