The Russian side has accused Ukraine of launching a terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge and stated that the incident has been criminally filed in accordance with the terms of the terrorist attack.
According to TASS and TASS on July 17th, the Russian National Counter Terrorism Committee stated that Ukrainian special forces carried out a terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge, causing damage to the bridge's road embankment. The Russian Federal Commission of Investigation has currently filed a criminal case against this incident in accordance with the terrorist attack clause.
Earlier on the 17th, Crimean regional leader Sergei Akshonov stated that traffic on the Crimean Bridge was interrupted due to an emergency. The President of the Crimean Parliament, Vladimir Konstantinov, subsequently stated that the cause of the Crimean Bridge "emergency" was a terrorist attack launched by Ukrainian authorities. At present, this "emergency incident" has caused 2 deaths and 1 minor injury.
Ukrainian Military Intelligence Agency spokesperson Yusov previously quoted the head of the department, Budanov, as saying that the Crimean Bridge is an "unnecessary facility", but did not respond to the reasons for the "emergency". RBC Ukraine News Agency quoted sources as saying that the attack on the Crimean Bridge may have been a special operation initiated by the Ukrainian Security Agency and the Ukrainian Navy, and stated that Ukraine used surface drones in this operation.
Ukrainian parliamentary member and former Prime Minister Goncharuk posted on his social media platform Telegram, stating that the Crimean Bridge emergency was a victory for Ukraine and calling for the highest honor to be awarded to those involved in the event.
