The grand event of the Universiade has begun, and visitors from all corners of the world flock here to listen to the stories of Chengdu.

Nine days open up a Chengdu, and thousands of households come to draw pictures. Exploring along the historical longitude and latitude reveals the charm of Chengdu. From the ancient city of Baodun to the Jinsha site, the ancient Shu civilization is mysterious and brilliant, with rich cultural relics telling stories. The simplicity and solidity are the foundation of Chengdu. For over 2300 years since its establishment, Sichuan brocade has been popular both domestically and internationally. The world's earliest paper currency, Jiaozi, was born here, and inclusiveness and openness are inherent characteristics of Rongcheng. The Chengdu Universiade is the first comprehensive international major event held in the western region of China, opening a new chapter in the future of this city.

The Universiade is not only the highest standard competitive stage for college athletes, but also an important international cultural exchange platform. Chengdu Museum, Giant Panda Base, Dujiangyan Irrigation Project Qingcheng Mountain Scenic Area... Chengdu has carefully selected 16 cultural exhibition and exchange points, and held more than 20 key cultural activities according to the characteristics of the points to show the unique charm of Tianfu culture to the world.

Driving towards the Chengdu Second Ring Elevated Bridge, the "Sky Flower Corridor" on both sides is eye-catching, with flowers and trees thriving in the park city. The focus is on using high-quality local characteristic flower and tree varieties to create garden landscapes. Currently, the coverage rate of flowers and colorful leaves in Chengdu is 35%, and the presentation rate of flower atmosphere is 50%. This has formed a rich and diverse flower viewing experience during the Universiade. Continuously improving the green ecological background, the city has added a total of 57.12 million square meters of green space since 2020, with a per capita park green area of 12.24 square meters.

Arriving at the Majiagou area of Shahe Street, Jinjiang District, where the shooting competition venue for the Universiade is located, on the flat and spacious road, "Pocket Park" and small green spaces are built along the way, with complete smart sanitation facilities. During the preparation for the Universiade, Chengdu positioned the Majiagou neighborhood as a "beautiful neighborhood" for urban life and carried out comprehensive renovation and upgrading.

In recent years, Chengdu has been dedicated to promoting urban renewal and the renovation and upgrading of old residential areas, supplementing public services, improving supporting facilities, and enhancing environmental quality. As of the end of 2022, 60 characteristic blocks have been built and 101 districts have been renovated for their appearance. The Xindu Xiangcheng Water Polo Stadium is the venue for the women's water polo competition and training at the current Universiade. When viewed from a high altitude, the side lines of the entire venue resemble stretched lotus leaves, while the funnel shaped spaces between connected venues resemble water droplets dripping from lotus leaves. This is the venue with the most prominent water-saving characteristics among all the venues of the Chengdu Universiade.

"At the beginning of the venue construction, the design concept of sponge city was adopted. The surrounding ground was paved with high permeability materials, combined with a sunken permeable green belt design and the sloping roof of the venue itself to collect rainwater." The relevant person in charge of the venue introduced that rainwater enters the water storage tank at the bottom of the venue, and after purification, it becomes the green water for the venue and the clean water for both inside and outside the venue. The venue saves over 3000 tons of water annually and reduces water consumption by 20%.

The Chengdu Universiade is a green and low-carbon sports event. The multifunctional building of Donglai Impression in Jianyang City is equipped with a smart venue energy management system. The cable membrane structure roof of the Phoenix Mountain Sports Park football field can save 3/4 of steel. Based on the principle of "green, thrifty, and necessary", various venues have submitted excellent answers. 100% of the interior of Dayun Village uses new energy shuttle buses, and 95% of the materials in the athlete's room, except for consumables, are rented and can be recycled. The green concept runs through all aspects of clothing, food, housing, and transportation.

The Chengdu Universiade is a sports event with strong technological elements. The training robots used in the table tennis venue of the High tech Sports Center can customize the speed, rotation, and landing point of each ball, and set multiple action systems according to training needs; The Pidu Fencing Venue Center utilizes a 32 megapixel panoramic camera and AR cloud view subsystem to achieve real-time multi-point linkage in video scenes, providing viewers with an ultra high definition viewing experience. Chengdu has drawn on the experience of the Science and Technology Winter Olympics to develop the "Technology Empowerment Action Plan for the Universiade", implementing over 170 technological products in venue construction, event support, digital observation, and other aspects, promoting innovative achievements to add color and support to the Universiade.

The Chengdu Universiade is a sports event that benefits people's lives. Before and after the competition, the achievements of the Universiade will continue to be integrated into the urban texture. Focusing on the demand for nearby fitness among citizens, Chengdu continues to utilize park green spaces and urban corner spaces to create "new sports spaces". In the Dayun Village, warm service can be felt everywhere. Athlete restaurants, delegation service centers, medical centers, administrative support centers, fitness centers, and more are all available. On the service desk, the translation intercom system utilizes globally leading artificial intelligence technology and can provide online translation, text conversion, and speech synthesis services for 83 languages. Watching Sichuan opera and appreciating Sichuan embroidery, cultural experience activities are rich and colorful, and the life in Dayun Village is convenient, fast, and full of fun.

The Chengdu Universiade is being held during the peak summer electricity consumption period, and ensuring power supply is a major challenge. Chengdu has formulated a large-scale operation and power supply plan in advance, with over 300 detailed plans for power supply protection and a dense safety net woven. The Chengdu Universiade Power Supply Command and Dispatch Center is making every effort to integrate 14 sets of business systems based on the "Chengdu Global Grid Map" as the digital foundation, achieving "full perception" of power supply objects, "full linkage" of demand response, and "full online" command and dispatch. Behind the screen, thousands of battery protection personnel are fighting on the front line to ensure the smooth progress of the competition.

At 8 o'clock in the morning, the main media center of the Universiade by Dong'an Lake was packed with people, and Yu Yang, the leader of the Universiade Power Support Team of State Grid Tianfu New Area Power Supply Company, and his colleagues also began their day's work. They act in groups and inspect the operation of the power supply and consumption facilities in the field floor by floor and point by point. "Compared to competition venues, the switch sockets here are very dense. We need to ensure stable electricity consumption for every microphone and every device," said Yu Yang.

The "Rongbao" robot, busy in the Universiade venue, frequently scrolls through social media while guiding and explaining event information. Not only does it have an online appearance, but it also has an emergency function, which can deliver emergency kits, automatic external defibrillators and other medical emergency tools at the center of the venue, helping people calmly respond to emergencies. Chengdu has widely introduced intelligent robots in aspects such as event support, auxiliary training, and life services for the Universiade, with fewer errors and higher efficiency. The "robot team" demonstrates the technological power of event support.
