Counterfeiting consulate staff to commit fraud, Consulate General in Melbourne reminds: Beware of illegal elements tampering with consulate | documents | consulates and consulates
Starting from this month, in order to facilitate Chinese citizens, especially middle-aged and elderly compatriots, to handle procedures such as Chinese passports, travel permits, and pensions, the Consulate General in Melbourne has resumed processing the above-mentioned services in the Consular Document Hall of its headquarters, which has been widely welcomed by Chinese compatriots.
Recently, our consulate has received reports from several Chinese citizens who have come to our consulate to handle consular documents, claiming that there are illegal elements impersonating our consul staff and calling the processing person, falsely claiming that there are problems with the documents processed by the processing person at our consulate. They have requested the processing person to immediately provide personal information such as order number and surname, in an attempt to deceive.
At present, overseas telecom fraud activities are rampant, seriously infringing on the interests of overseas Chinese citizens, which we abhor. Here, our museum once again solemnly reminds compatriots in the consular area, especially applicants who come to our museum to handle consular documents: our museum generally does not contact the handler by telephone to handle documents-related business urgently, nor does it ask for personal information and order number, nor does it send you voice mail messages or transfer numbers to other institutions, nor does it ask for your bank account information or ask you to transfer money. Please be sure to strengthen the screening and achieve the "three noes": do not disclose your identity documents, do not provide bank account information, and do not make any transfers. After receiving such a call, you can hang up immediately, and then call back our consular certificate consultation number 0061-3-98220604 or send an email to the mel@csm.mfa.gov.cn for verification.
Meanwhile, during the process of handling consular documents, please pay attention to protecting personal information security. If you have any questions, you can refer to the consular document service section on our official website or call the above consular document consultation hotline to resolve them. If you need to change the certification materials, it is recommended to make an appointment directly with the consulate to deliver the materials in person. Please try to avoid entrusting informal intermediaries or unfamiliar "kind-hearted people" to handle it, and be careful not to lose control of personal information and cause unnecessary losses due to theft.
In addition, our library has been concerned that some photo centers claim to be "photo centers designated by the Consulate General" for profit. Our library hereby solemnly declares that we have never designated any photo studio. As long as the photos meet the accreditation requirements published on our official website, we will accept them no matter which photo studio they are taken in. Any propaganda under the banner of "certification of the Consulate General" or "designation of the Consulate General" is false propaganda. Please be vigilant. If there is consumer fraud or misleading, you can complain to the local consumer affairs department.
It is the duty of the Consulate General to provide safe, thoughtful, and convenient services to the Chinese compatriots in the jurisdiction, and preventing telecommunications fraud is our shared mission and responsibility.
