Corrupt officials cry bitterly: How can I still take care of my parents and see them off
The China Journal of Discipline Inspection and Supervision published a commentary today titled "Blind comparison leads to self destruction". The article points out that Hu Yuanpei, former member of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of the State owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Deyang City, Sichuan Province, completely denied his education and deviated from his original intention of entering politics through blind comparison, ultimately leading to psychological imbalance, loss of integrity, and corruption.
According to the public resume, Hu Yuanpei, male, born in December 1970, who was investigated in November 2021, has served as a member of the Party Working Committee and Deputy Director of the Management Committee of Deyang High tech Zone, as well as a member and Deputy Director of the Party Committee of the State owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Deyang City.
According to the news released on the "Incorruptible Sichuan" WeChat official account last month, Hu Yuanpei was born in a poor family, and he was determined to break out of the "agricultural door". He studied hard and made progress since he was young, and passed the Sichuan Agricultural University with unremitting efforts. After four years of study, Hu Yuanpei not only obtained a bachelor's degree but also continued to pursue a master's degree with excellent grades. After graduation, he was assigned to the Guanghan Agricultural Bureau. As a highly educated young cadre, Hu Yuanpei was promoted to the position of Deputy Director of Guanghan Water Resources Bureau by the organization after five years of work, and his career has been smooth ever since.
After Hu Yuanpei took up the leadership position, he did not compare his contributions with advanced models, but instead compared his enjoyment with the sand and gravel boss. This comparison made him feel that he was at a disadvantage, with a higher education level and more contributions than them, yet his income was not even a fraction of theirs. So, Hu Yuanpei developed the erroneous idea that "it's not a big deal to take a little money from them, which can be said to be a matter of course", putting the bottom line of integrity, party discipline, national law, and unification behind his mind. That is to say, during this period, he frequently reached out and received large amounts of "thank you fees".
After investigation, from 2000 to 2021, Hu Yuanpei took advantage of his position to seek benefits for others in sand and gravel mining and sales, engineering project contracting, and engineering fund disbursement. He illegally received more than 19.6 million yuan in gifts from 42 people alone or in collaboration with others. Last December, Hu Yuanpei was sentenced to 11 years in prison and fined RMB 3 million for the crime of bribery in accordance with the law.
