Controversy keeps going! Trump sues female writer Carol for defamation of the United States | Trump | female writer
According to comprehensive reports, on the 27th local time, former US President Trump sued American female writer Carol for defamation.
The entanglement between Trump and Carol has a long history. Carol first filed a defamation lawsuit against Trump in 2019, accusing him of raping her in the 1990s, but Trump firmly denied it. At the end of November 2022, Carol filed another lawsuit against Trump. On May 9, 2023, a jury in New York found that Trump had sexually assaulted and defamed Carol, and was required to pay $5 million in compensation, but found that he did not rape Carol. Two days later, Trump appealed this ruling.
According to reports, Trump claimed that Carol had defamed him on a CNN program, claiming to have raped her.
In response to this new accusation, Carol's lawyer Kaplan stated that Trump's actions were "just the latest effort to delay accountability, and the jury has determined that he defamed Carol." He also stated that regardless of whether Trump likes it or not, accountability will soon come.
CNN stated that the defamation lawsuit in 2019 is expected to be tried in 2024, and there are still several unresolved issues in this case. Carol is seeking compensation of over $10 million in this case, partly because after the verdict, Trump made remarks deemed defamatory by the jury on social media and CNN programs.
