The second two-day Russia Africa Summit concluded that evening. Russian President Putin and heads of state from multiple African countries have passed a declaration on cooperation in various fields such as politics, security, economy and trade, food, and energy.
The declaration states that Russia and Africa will establish a dialogue partnership mechanism to facilitate regular political consultations between the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of African countries, and the African Union; A high-level permanent dialogue mechanism will be established to coordinate the fight against terrorism and extremism, as well as to address issues related to food and information security.
The attending leaders agreed to hold a Russo African summit every three years and an annual Russo African parliamentary meeting.
In addition, the attending leaders also passed three documents on preventing an arms race in space, ensuring cooperation in the field of information security, and strengthening counter-terrorism cooperation, as well as the action plan of the Russia Africa Partnership Forum from 2023 to 2026.
The first Russia Africa Summit was held in Sochi, Russia in October 2019, with a focus on exploring cooperation between Russia and Africa in political, security, and economic fields.
