On the 25th, China's first multi-functional scientific research and archaeological vessel for deep sea exploration officially began construction at the Longxue Island manufacturing workshop in Nansha, Guangzhou. The ship is expected to be completed and delivered by 2025, and will be put into offshore operations.

It is reported that this is a new type of multifunctional scientific research vessel that can conduct deep-sea scientific surveys and cultural relics archaeology, and can conduct polar sea area surveys in summer. The designed captain is about 103 meters, the designed draft displacement is about 9200 tons, the maximum speed is 16 knots, the bow and stern can break ice in both directions, the ice area can be strengthened to PC4 level, the endurance is 15000 nautical miles, and it can carry 80 passengers.

The ship has iconic functions such as unrestricted water navigation, manned deep diving, deep-sea exploration, comprehensive operation support, and heavy safety loads. It can provide the necessary samples and environmental data for the research of cutting-edge issues related to deep and distant sea geology, environment, and life sciences, provide relevant disciplinary guidance and underwater operation support for deep-sea archaeology, and support the offshore testing and application of core deep-sea technology equipment.
