Congratulations! Chinese scientist won the 2023 European Inventor Award for Battery | Wu Kai | Chinese scientist
The European Patent Office, headquartered in Munich, Germany, announced on July 4th local time that Wu Kai, the chief scientist of Chinese company CATL, and his team stood out from over 600 candidates and won the 2023 European Inventor Award.
According to the website of the European Patent Office, Wu Kai and his team have developed a lithium-ion battery with a top cover, which can serve as a barrier to reduce battery safety risks, thereby reducing the risk of electric vehicle battery explosions and fires.
Wu Kai stated that electric vehicles equipped with advanced safety batteries are making more people accept sustainable lifestyles and contribute to the global energy transformation. I hope young inventors around the world will adhere to the concept of learning, doing, and asking more questions, and develop more innovative achievements for the well-being of humanity.
The European Inventors Award is one of the most famous innovation awards in Europe, initiated by the European Patent Office in 2006, aimed at recognizing individuals and teams who have proposed solutions to some of the biggest challenges facing the current era.
