On June 9th, Honduras President Castro arrived in Shanghai and began his first visit to China, which received widespread attention.
This visit is the first state visit of the President of Honduras to China, and the two heads of state will hold a historic meeting to jointly plan and lead the future development of China Hong Kong relations.
"The first meeting between the leaders of Hong Kong and China is of milestone significance and will usher in a new era of bilateral relations," said Ector Zelaya, a personal advisor to President Castro who accompanied the visit to China, in a social media post.
On the 9th, the President of Honduras arrived in Shanghai and checked into a hotel. On the evening of the 9th, during a foreign affairs meeting in Shanghai, Castro expressed his expectations for this visit to China. Recognizing the One China principle, establishing diplomatic relations with China, and cooperating with China can bring development opportunities to Honduras.

On June 5th, President Castro tweeted that she would visit China with a special mission. She said, "The reconstruction of Honduras requires opening up new perspectives in many fields such as politics, science, technology, commerce, and culture." On the same day, the Chinese Embassy in Honduras officially opened.
On March 26th of this year, China and Honduras signed a Communique on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations, establishing formal diplomatic relations. Honduras became the 182nd country to establish diplomatic relations with China. Less than three months after the establishment of diplomatic relations, China and Hong Kong have rapidly docked and cooperated in various fields, and the progress of cooperation is encouraging.
On June 6th, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wang Wenbin, stated that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Honduras over two months ago, both sides have firmly fulfilled their diplomatic commitments and jointly promoted the strong start of China Hong Kong relations on the basis of mutual respect, equality, mutual benefit, and common development, achieving a series of early gains and achieving a "good start". It fully demonstrates that adhering to the One China principle is an international righteousness, the will of the people, and the overall trend. The establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Hong Kong is fully in line with the fundamental and long-term interests of the two peoples.
Wang Wenbin stated that China looks forward to working with Hong Kong to deepen mutual trust, expand cooperation, enhance friendship, and promote stable and far-reaching China Hong Kong relations through this visit as an opportunity.
Honduras is an important country in Central America. Since entering the new century, China's circle of friends in Central America has been continuously expanding. China established diplomatic relations with Costa Rica in 2007, Panama in 2017, El Salvador and Dominica in 2018, and Nicaragua in 2021. Under the framework of the "the Belt and Road", China has also carried out many cooperation projects.

This week, Assistant Secretary of State Conda visited China again after half a year, and Chinese and American diplomats held talks in Beijing, which also attracted public attention.
According to the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on June 5th, Assistant Secretary of State for Asia Pacific Affairs Conda of the United States Department of State and Senior Director of China Affairs at the White House National Security Council, Bessaran, visited China. The official press release defined the meeting as "frank, constructive, and productive" and stated that "both sides agree to continue communication.".
Analysts interviewed by CCTV News pointed out that an important demand for the US to visit China is to carry out crisis management with US bonds as the core. In addition, the United States also needs to cooperate with China on issues such as climate change, nuclear proliferation, and the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Kangda visited China in December last year and held talks with Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Xie Feng in Langfang, Hebei. Both sides have conducted in-depth communication on the implementation of the consensus reached at the Bali meeting between the two heads of state, the proper handling of important and sensitive issues in bilateral relations, and the strengthening of exchanges at all levels and cooperation in related fields.
Recently, the frequency of contact between China and the United States has increased.
In early May, Wang Yi, a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Director of the Office of the Central Committee of Foreign Affairs, met with US President's Assistant for National Security Affairs, Sullivan, in Vienna, Austria. Liu Jianchao, Minister of External Relations of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and Qin Gang, State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, successively met with US Ambassador to China Burns. Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao also met with US Commerce Minister Raymond and trade negotiator Dai Qi in the United States.
But while the US seeks dialogue with China, it also shows a contradictory side.
US Secretary of Defense Austin challenged China at the 20th Shangri La Dialogue, mentioning the Taiwan Strait issue and the so-called "freedom of navigation"; At the same time, US warships and planes frequently cause trouble and provoke near China, and China intercepts them in accordance with the law and regulations. At this week's press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wang Wenbin made multiple statements on relevant issues.
Faced with multiple questions from foreign media, spokesperson Wang Wenbin emphasized on June 5th that the truth is that the US provoked and caused trouble first, while the Chinese side dealt with it in accordance with the law and regulations later.

On June 6th, Wang Wenbin once again emphasized that it was the US military aircraft that had traveled thousands of miles to provoke China's doorstep and insisted on conducting close range reconnaissance near China's territorial waters and airspace, showing off their strength. This is not to uphold "freedom of navigation", but to promote "navigation hegemony", which is a blatant military provocation. This kind of hegemonic behavior is the root cause of sea and air security risks.
At the routine press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on June 7th, Wang Wenbin stated that necessary communication is maintained between China and the United States. Currently, China US relations are facing challenges, and the responsibility does not lie with China. The US should truly respect China's core interests and major concerns, stop interfering in China's internal affairs, stop harming China's interests, stop calling for communication and exchange, and at the same time, provoke recklessly, stop saying one thing at a time, and act in opposition to China to promote the healthy and stable development of China US relations back on track.
On June 7th local time, Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng was invited to attend an event and delivered a keynote speech, clarifying China's position and attitude on China US relations.
As always, China attaches great importance to China US relations and is willing to work together with the US to grasp the correct direction, promote dialogue and cooperation, dismantle dangerous explosive points, implement the important consensus reached at the Bali meeting of the two heads of state with practical actions, and strive for the early return of China US relations to the right track.
When it comes to dialogue and cooperation between China and the United States, Xie Feng emphasized that there is a Chinese saying that "sincerity leads to spirit", and dialogue and cooperation should respect each other and be result oriented. Dialogue for the sake of dialogue, returning to talk and doing, not only fails to solve the problem, but also backfires. In high-level communication, it is particularly important to manage the entire process well, create a good atmosphere before the dialogue, accumulate positive results during the dialogue, and solidly promote implementation after the dialogue.

This week, China has repeatedly expressed its solemn stance and strongly refuted Japan in various diplomatic occasions.
On June 5th local time, Zhang Kejian, Director of the National Atomic Energy Agency of China and Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency in China, attended the June Board of Directors of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna and gave a speech on the issue of Japan's discharge of Fukushima nuclear contaminated water into the sea, harshly criticizing Japan's discharge of Fukushima nuclear contaminated water. In response to Japan's sophistry, Ambassador Li Song, the Permanent Representative of China to the International Atomic Energy Agency, exercised his right of defense and strongly refuted it.
Li Song emphasized that Japan completely disregards its international obligations, disregards international maritime security and human health, disregards widespread questioning and strong opposition from the international community, including its own people, disregards the authority of the International Atomic Energy Agency, acts unilaterally, and forcibly discharges into the sea. The Japanese side cannot listen to domestic and foreign opposition voices, and does not allow other countries to express legitimate concerns. This is a guilty conscience, extremely selfish and irresponsible!
At the routine press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on June 7th, Wang Wenbin stated that the Japanese government has repeatedly washed away the water contaminated by the Fukushima nuclear power plant, claiming that the water quality is harmless and the discharge is reasonable, and treating the discharge into the sea as the only option for disposing of nuclear contaminated water. However, the facts have been repeatedly refuted. There are many voices in the international community questioning why Japan does not directly discharge nuclear contaminated water into domestic lakes if it is truly as safe and harmless as Japan claims? Why insist on building and rushing to start the sea discharge tunnel? The answer given by Japan's own expert committee to this is very clear: discharging into the sea is the most cost-effective and poses the least pollution risk to Japan itself. This practice of making the world pay for it in order to save money is extremely selfish and irresponsible.
On June 7th, a spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in Japan issued a statement regarding the discharge of contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant into the sea. The latest test results showed that the radioactive element cesium in the fish caught in the harbor of the Fukushima nuclear power plant exceeded the standard, reaching 180 times Japan's legal standard, which is shocking. Meanwhile, according to reports, Japan has recently started injecting seawater into the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant's contaminated water discharge tunnel, which is used to dilute the soon to be discharged contaminated water. The Japanese stubbornness in their actions is infuriating.
A spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in Japan pointed out that research has shown that radioactive materials can spread to most of the Pacific Ocean within 57 days from the date of discharge, and then spread to global waters 10 years later. The discharge of nuclear contaminated water into the sea involves marine environmental safety and human health. On this major issue, the Japanese side must be both cautious and not allow the Fukushima nuclear disaster to continue, and not let future generations of humanity take risks.
