"Studying abroad has given me a deeper understanding of China," said Zimbabwean boy Mille, speaking fluent Mandarin with a contagious smile on his face. He said that inheriting Africa China friendship and promoting people to people communication is now his unremitting pursuit.
Mille grew up in rural areas in northeastern Zimbabwe. Once, he went to his uncle's house to play and learned about distant China for the first time through television. "I watched Chinese movies and many documentaries about China on TV, and I have infinite longing for this Eastern country." After graduating from high school in 2017, Milley decided to come to China to study abroad. He first studied Applied Physics at Zhejiang University of Science and Technology, and later pursued a Master's degree in International Affairs and Global Governance at Zhejiang University.
"When I first arrived in China, I didn't know Chinese and encountered many difficulties in life. However, the enthusiastic help of my teachers and classmates quickly helped me adapt to everything." Milley said, and he and his classmates studied and discussed together in class. Outside of class, we played football, rowed dragon boats, and volunteered together, and life was enjoyable. "China's educational environment and academic level are attracting more and more international students' attention."
In addition to studying, Millay always seeks opportunities to participate in social practice and particularly enjoys visiting rural areas in China. What is the secret to China's victory in poverty alleviation? What is the experience of rural revitalization in China? Can China's experience be used as a reference for other developing countries? With these questions in mind, Milley visited provinces such as Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Shanxi, Guangdong, and Jiangsu, sometimes staying in the village for a month.
"The establishment of a brand building office in Jinyun County, Lishui City, Zhejiang Province, aims to create a 'golden business card' for enriching the people, increasing income, and promoting economic development. Grassroots cadres in Shahao Village, Xingxian County, Lvliang City, Shanxi Province, put themselves in the shoes of the villagers and wholeheartedly serve the people..." When talking about what they have seen and heard in rural China, Milley is like a family treasure. In his view, the strong leadership of the CPC, the development of characteristic industries in line with local conditions and the stimulation of the endogenous power of the masses are the inexhaustible power of rural revitalization in China.
With observation and reflection on China, after the successful conclusion of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, Milai went to the enterprise and campus with the teachers and students of Zhejiang University of Science and Technology and Zhejiang University to make a theme tour to share his view of Chinese path to modernization. Miley said, "China's practice has proved to the world that modernization is not simply 'copy and paste'. Chinese path to modernization has provided the world with a new paradigm of modernization, that is, starting from its own reality, adapting to its own national conditions, developing for the people and relying on the people. I myself am a child coming out of the countryside, and I want to tell more people about China's poverty alleviation story, so that more people can get rich."

This autumn, Millay will be pursuing a doctoral degree at Zhejiang University. Speaking of the future, Millay said, "Living in China, learning in China, growing up in China, I cherish every day in China. After achieving success in my studies, I will contribute my own strength to promoting the construction of a community with a shared future between Africa and China."
"Studying in China has brought me greater development opportunities"
Tall buildings stand tall and green trees provide shade. The Guningan region is a famous business district in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. The Indonesian representative office of China Electric Power Construction Corporation is located within the business district. Huang Chaoqin, the market development manager of the representative office, stated in an interview that he studied in China, worked in power construction, and developed in Indonesia. I embody the cooperation and exchange between China and Indonesia, and constantly feel the friendship between the people of China and Indonesia.
"This year marks the 10th anniversary of the initiative to jointly build the the Belt and Road. The the Belt and Road initiative has created a broad prospect for cooperation in co building the country. When choosing a university, my family and I happened to choose Chinese universities. Now looking back, studying in China has brought me greater development space," said Huang Chaoqin. In 2014, Huang Chaoqin enrolled in the International Economics and Trade program at Beihang University. During his four years of studying in China, Huang Chaoqin not only achieved success in his studies, but also gained a deeper understanding of China.
"As an international student, I can feel firsthand what 'China's speed' is. The rapid development of various fields in China always makes me feel excited." Huang Chaoqin said, "I have taken the Beijing Shanghai and Beijing Tianjin high-speed trains, and on the fast and smooth trains, the scenery passing by the window is pleasing to the eye. Even the high-speed railway itself has become a beautiful scenery! Currently, Chinese companies are undertaking the construction of the Jakarta Bandung high-speed railway, and China is helping Indonesia's railway enter the 'high-speed era'."
In the spring of 2018, in order to meet the international talent needs of employers and facilitate internships, employment, and entrepreneurship for foreign students, the China Ministry of Education's Study Abroad Service Center held the "Recruitment Fair for Study Abroad Talents in China". At that time, Huang Chaoqin, who was in his fourth year of college, was facing graduation, and the job fair provided him with a rare employment opportunity. At the job fair, Huang Chaoqin submitted his resume to China Electric Power Construction Corporation and, after careful selection, successfully received an offer letter.

Every day working here is both challenging and exciting." Huang Chaoqin said, "Chinese companies value efficient collaboration and have strong international competitiveness." The spirit of everyone working together to achieve the same goal has greatly inspired me. "
Huang Chaoqin said that Indonesia is working hard to accelerate the development of infrastructure, energy, water resources, and mining, which has opened up broad development space for cooperation between Indonesia and China. "Chinese enterprises rooted in Indonesia have created valuable opportunities for Indonesia's development and continuously promoted the development of bilateral relations." Huang Chaoqin said that he will focus on his own work and contribute to promoting friendly exchanges between Indonesia and China.
"Build a bridge of friendship for mutual understanding between the two peoples"
"The 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics was the starting point of my story with China." David Hainer can speak fluent Mandarin, and he loves Chinese culture and is familiar with various Chinese mobile applications. If it weren't for face-to-face conversations, it's hard to imagine this young man being an authentic Colombian. Haina said that the charm of traditional Chinese culture demonstrated at the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics at that time deeply fascinated him, who was still in high school. "At that time, I thought I would definitely go to Beijing to see it if I had the opportunity in the future!"
In 2009, the New Granada School where Haina attended opened Colombia's first Confucius Classroom. "There, Chinese teachers not only patiently taught me how to speak Chinese and helped me understand Chinese culture, but also introduced me to the current development status of China, encouraged me to study in China, and helped me prepare relevant study abroad materials. Years have passed, and Haina is still grateful for this." The encouragement and help of Chinese teachers have taken me to the first step of studying in China. "
In 2012, Haina went to study at East China Normal University in Shanghai. Five years later, he was admitted to the Political Science program at Tsinghua University. "Colombia is my motherland, and China is my second hometown. In China, I feel at ease and happy." Looking back on my time in China, Haina said that Chinese universities have a high degree of internationalization, abundant high-quality educational resources, and are also very open and inclusive towards foreign students. The enthusiasm and friendship of the Chinese people can be truly felt in schools.

"When I first arrived in China, I encountered many problems and challenges in both my studies and daily life. At that time, my Chinese was not good, and I didn't know how to take the subway to school, shop online, or go to the hospital for medical treatment. Whenever I encountered difficulties, Chinese teachers and classmates would lend a helping hand." Haina said, "The teachers not only guided him to improve his academic level, but also encouraged him to bravely accept challenges and firmly pursue his dreams.". To this day, Haina still maintains contact with his teachers, often sharing his joy and confusion in work and life with them, and seeking their advice.
After obtaining his master's degree in 2019, Haina returned to Colombia with a sense of what he had learned in China and started a consulting company. He combines his daily observations of China with his professional knowledge to introduce to more people the current situation in China and the development prospects of the Colombian China relationship. Haina stated that China is the world's second largest economy, as well as Colombia's second largest trading partner and one of the most important sources of investment. With the continuous improvement of China's international influence and economic strength, more and more Colombian companies want to enter the Chinese market, and many Chinese companies have also come to Colombia to invest and start businesses. "By establishing consulting companies, I can help more Colombian companies and institutions better understand the real China, and also enable Chinese companies who want to invest in Colombia to adapt to the Colombian market faster, help both sides carry out cooperation, and achieve mutual benefit and win-win."
"In the past, my classmates and friends around me tended to study in European and American countries; now, more and more family and friends are inquiring about studying and traveling in China." Haina said that under his recommendation, many friends set foot on the land of China and expressed sincere gratitude for his recommendation. "In the second half of this year, I plan to go back to China to recharge myself and learn about the latest developments and changes in China. China's good teachers and friends have built a bridge for me to understand China, and I also want to build a bridge of friendship for the mutual understanding between the two peoples," Haina said.
