Chinese tourists entering the country are locked up in small black houses and asking for money? Malaysian Prime Minister Responds to Officials | Women | Malaysia
According to the website of Singapore's Lianhe Zaobao, a Chinese woman said recently that when she entered Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia, she was called into a "small black room" by immigration officials and asked for unknown money.
According to reports, the Chinese passenger arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport on June 29th and was summoned into a small black room by immigration officials for questioning due to language barriers while processing entry procedures. The passenger stated that after entering the small black room, officials confiscated her phone and opened a 15 hour questioning session, during which she only received one meal.
In addition, the negotiating party of the passenger was asked to pay the "release package" of "3000+3000+12000" when negotiating with suspected "intermediary" personnel, which includes the processing fees for the exit ticket, re entry ticket, and visa application.
The report states that the passenger's mobile phone contains information such as round-trip tickets and hotel stays, and basically does not violate any Malaysian entry regulations.
The report pointed out that the passenger's encounter has attracted the attention of Malaysia's Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Zhang Qingxin, who personally led department officials to the airport to rescue the passenger. Subsequently, the passenger was released and successfully entered Malaysia when immigration officials were unable to provide substantial evidence.
Zhang Qingxin's behavior has sparked heated discussions in the country. He responded that he applied for a pass through legitimate channels to enter the entry hall of Kuala Lumpur International Airport and rescued a Chinese female tourist who was harassed and bribed by officials. He also stated that officials from the immigration department of Kuala Lumpur International Airport are the ones responsible for abuse of power and corruption.
On July 2nd local time, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar went to Kuala Lumpur International Airport for a surprise inspection.
According to media reports, Anwar stated in his response to questions from reporters about this incident that the government will thoroughly investigate the matter and he is also prepared to bring it to the cabinet meeting on July 5th for discussion. He said, "Most immigration officials are diligent in their work. If there are problems, we will solve them. If officials engage in improper behavior, we will also take appropriate action."
