On August 22nd, Ambassador Chen Hai held a trilateral meeting with Thai Ambassador to Myanmar, Mong Kong, and Lao Ambassador to Myanmar, Heng Xian, to communicate and coordinate on cooperation in combating gambling and fraud in the region.
The three sides unanimously believe that the current rampant gambling and fraud problem in this region seriously damages the lives and property safety of people in countries including China, Thailand, and Laos. The embassies of the three countries in Myanmar are highly concerned about this and continue to carry out work. In response to relevant appeals for help, the three embassies have made every effort to coordinate with Myanmar to carry out search and rescue operations, and assist Myanmar in increasing its crackdown on gambling fraud groups.
The three parties emphasized that recently, the police of China, Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos held a meeting in Chiang Mai, Thailand to reach a consensus on carrying out special cooperation and crackdown actions against telecommunications network fraud and online gambling crimes in the region, as well as related crimes such as human trafficking, kidnapping, and illegal detention. The three embassies in Myanmar will strengthen coordination, support Myanmar and relevant departments of the three countries to jointly implement relevant consensus, carry out strict crackdown actions, and resolutely reverse the high incidence of related crimes.
