The joint statement emphasized that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Vienna Declaration and Programme of Action, and the 21st anniversary of the adoption of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Aging.
The joint statement calls for all parties to take this as an opportunity to revive the spirit of the above-mentioned documents, take practical measures to eliminate various difficulties faced by elderly women, safeguard their legitimate rights and interests, and not let anyone fall behind. One is to promote equality, effectively implement the Beijing Declaration and Action Plan, eliminate prejudice, discrimination, and violence against elderly women, and promote social services to provide more care and care. The second is to strengthen security and provide more comprehensive elderly care conditions for elderly women, including social security benefits such as medical care and unemployment. The third is to increase participation, especially by expanding the participation of elderly women in economic, social and cultural affairs, so that they can become participants, contributors, and beneficiaries in promoting the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, achieving post pandemic recovery and development.
