Chinese representatives clarify their solemn stance on issues related to Xinjiang at the United Nations Human Rights Council
On June 21st, Yang Xiaokun, the Special Representative for Human Rights Affairs of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, exercised his right of defense at the 53rd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, stating his firm stance on issues related to Xinjiang, Tibet, Hong Kong, and strongly condemning a few countries such as the United Kingdom and Australia, as well as anti China non-governmental organizations, for abusing the Human Rights Council platform to spread false information and slandering and smearing China.
Yang Xiaokun pointed out that China adheres to the people as the center, adheres to the path of human rights development that conforms to the trend of the times and suits its own national conditions, constantly improves the level of human rights protection in the process of promoting Chinese path to modernization, and promotes the free and comprehensive development of human beings. The human rights achievements are widely seen. At present, the economy in Xinjiang and Xizang is developing continuously, the society is harmonious and stable, and the development of human rights is at its best in history. After the implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law, the basic rights and freedoms of Hong Kong residents have been effectively protected, and judicial independence and national security have been effectively safeguarded. The resolute rejection of the draft decision related to Xinjiang at the 51st session of the Human Rights Council and the support of nearly a hundred countries for China's just stance on issues related to Xinjiang, Tibet, and Hong Kong in the Human Rights Council fully demonstrate the popular support of the international community.
Yang Xiaokun stated that a few countries such as the UK and Australia continue to repeat lies and rumors, further exposing their political schemes and malicious intentions. China urges these countries to put aside hypocrisy, arrogance, and prejudice, stop politicizing and instrumentalizing human rights issues, and focus their energy on solving their own human rights issues, truly promoting and protecting human rights.
