Chinese Government's Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Affairs Liu Xiaoming Holds Consultations with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister | Peninsula | Liu Xiaoming
On June 26, 2023, the Chinese government's Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Affairs, Liu Xiaoming, held consultations with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Rudenko in Beijing, and the two sides exchanged in-depth views on the Korean Peninsula issue.
Both sides believe that since the 70 year ceasefire in the Korean War, the Korean Peninsula has not yet achieved a transition to a ceasefire mechanism, and has not been able to balance the concerns of all parties, especially the reasonable security concerns of the North Korean side. This is the root cause and crux of the tense situation on the Korean Peninsula. Both sides emphasize that maintaining peace and stability on the peninsula, achieving denuclearization of the peninsula, and establishing a peace mechanism on the peninsula are in line with the common interests of the region and the international community. We hope that all parties will uphold a common, comprehensive, cooperative, and sustainable security concept, follow the "dual track" approach and the principle of phased synchronization, and solve their respective concerns through meaningful dialogue and balance, in order to achieve long-term peace and security on the peninsula as soon as possible.
