Spokesperson of the Embassy in New Zealand on New Zealand's Release of the 2023 New Zealand Security Threat Environment Report
The Chinese side has taken note of the 2023 New Zealand Security Threat Environment report released by the New Zealand side and expresses strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition to its content related to China.
China has always adhered to the principle of non-interference in its internal affairs, firmly opposed foreign interference in China's internal affairs, and has never interfered in the internal affairs of any other country. The hat of interfering in the internal affairs of other countries cannot be placed on China. The Chinese government strictly adheres to the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, as well as international law and the laws and regulations of the host country, to engage in normal contact and exchange with Chinese overseas citizens, protect the safety and legitimate rights and interests of Chinese overseas citizens, and also hopes that the governments of relevant countries can create an open, inclusive, and non discriminatory environment for the normal life, work, and study of Chinese overseas citizens and local Chinese.
With the joint efforts of both sides, the overall momentum of healthy and stable development of China Singapore relations has been maintained, bringing huge benefits to both sides, especially the people of both countries. This situation was not easy won and deserves both sides to cherish and care for. Mutual trust is the foundation of communication and cooperation between both parties. It is easy to lose, but difficult to gain. China respects New Zealand and adheres to an independent foreign policy from the perspective of safeguarding its own interests. It is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in various fields with New Zealand on the basis of mutual respect, seeking common ground while reserving differences, and mutual benefit, continuously deepening mutual trust, promoting the healthy and stable development of China New Zealand relations, and better benefiting the two countries and their peoples.
