China US Climate Envoys Meet Again via Video
According to the website of Taiwan's Economic Daily on August 23, the climate envoys of the mainland and the United States held another video meeting on August 23, exchanging views on climate change cooperation and other issues, and agreed to continue close communication. This is the third climate envoy meeting between the two sides in the short term.
The European Union's climate monitoring agency Copernicus Climate Change Service said on August 8th that July, which had just passed, was the hottest month on record since 1940, breaking multiple temperature records.
According to the official WeChat account of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of the mainland on the evening of August 23, China's special envoy for climate change, Xie Zhenhua, held a video meeting with the US President's special envoy on climate issues, Kerry, as requested. The two sides agreed to continue close communication on topics such as dialogue and cooperation on climate change between China and the United States.
This is the third meeting between Xie Zhenhua and Kerry in a short period of time. The two had previously held a video meeting on July 27th, when mainland officials pointed out that they further exchanged views on topics such as strengthening dialogue and exchanges on climate change between China and the United States, and promoting cooperation in the global climate multilateral process. Both parties agree to maintain close communication.
During Kerry's visit to China from July 16th to 19th, the China US climate envoys held talks in Beijing.
