The longest carbon dioxide transportation pipeline in China has been put into operation, and independent intellectual property equipment has been put into operation to fill the gaps in the industrial chain
CCTV News: Yesterday, the longest carbon dioxide transportation pipeline in China - the Qilu Petrochemical Shengli Oilfield carbon dioxide transportation pipeline - was officially put into operation. It is reported that the pipeline has a total length of 109 kilometers and can transport 1.7 million tons of carbon dioxide captured by Qilu Petrochemical production to the underground oil reservoir of Shengli Oilfield for oil displacement and storage every year.
Qi Lidian, Deputy Manager of the Engineering Construction Management Department of Sinopec Shengli Oilfield: The project is the first million ton, 100 kilometer carbon dioxide long-distance pipeline in China, and the first domestic carbon dioxide booster pump and dense phase pump have been developed. At the same time, digital twin construction of processes has also been carried out in pipeline construction, filling a gap in the CCUS industry chain.
Compared with oil pipelines, the safety transportation, design and construction, and special measures of carbon dioxide pipelines are more difficult. There is no precedent in China for high-pressure, constant temperature, and dense phase transportation of carbon dioxide. In order to prevent low-temperature damage caused by carbon dioxide leakage, pipelines need to be buried about 2 meters underground. To prevent soil frost heave and environmental damage caused by low temperatures, it is necessary to maintain sufficient pressure when choosing a liquid conveying process at room temperature. Therefore, for the first time, the pipeline used the first domestic large displacement booster pump with independent intellectual property rights, with a design pressure of up to 12 megapascals. The same type of gas pipeline only requires 0.7 megapascals, which is equivalent to a nail sized area bearing a weight of 120 kilograms.

Shu Huawen, Deputy General Manager of Sinopec Shengli Petroleum Management Bureau Co., Ltd.: In August last year, while China's first million ton CCUS demonstration project was completed and put into operation, we launched the construction of China's first 100 kilometer level carbon dioxide long-distance pipeline. Its operation filled the technical gap of CCUS's full chain and large-scale development, which is of great milestone significance.
