According to a report by Kyodo News Agency on August 19th, the General Administration of Customs of China recently released trade data showing that the total amount of imported aquatic products from Japan in July sharply decreased by 28.5% year-on-year to 234.51 million yuan, a decrease of 33.7% compared to the previous month.
Due to opposition to Japan's plan to discharge nuclear contaminated water into the sea, China has fully initiated radioactive material testing of Japanese aquatic products since July this year, which may have affected the decrease in import volume.

The General Administration of Customs of China stated on July 7th that all necessary measures will be taken in accordance with the development of the situation regarding the discharge of Japan's nuclear contaminated water into the sea. From around July 8th to 9th, cities such as Shanghai and Shenzhen began testing for radioactive substances.

For testing, it takes about two weeks and one month for cold and frozen items to clear customs, respectively. Japan is actually facing difficulties in exporting cold collectibles to China.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning stated in July that China's measures are justified and must take responsibility for the health of the people.
