On July 20th, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning presided over a regular press conference. A reporter asked that on the 19th, the US President's climate envoy, John Kerry, held a briefing stating that he had very harmonious and productive talks with China. In the coming weeks, the United States and China will closely cooperate to prepare for important negotiations at the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Climate Change Conference. May I ask if the spokesperson has any comments on this?
Mao Ning stated that climate change is a global challenge that requires countries to work together to address. China is a practitioner of ecological civilization and an action force in climate governance. China has contributed 25% of the world's newly added green area since the beginning of this century, taking the lead in achieving zero growth in land degradation, dual reduction in desertification and desertification land areas, and dual growth in forest coverage and forest stock. China has built the world's largest clean power generation system, with installed capacities of hydropower, wind power, and solar power all ranking first in the world. China has supported an annual economic growth rate of 6.2% with an average annual energy consumption growth rate of 3%, making it one of the countries with the fastest reduction in energy consumption intensity in the world. China is also a leader in global environmental governance, actively promoting the comprehensive, balanced, and effective implementation of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and its Paris Agreement. At the same time, we have also done our best to provide support and assistance to other developing countries, making positive contributions to building a fair, reasonable, and cooperative global climate governance system.
China will continue to strengthen the construction of ecological civilization and work together with other countries to build a clean and beautiful world.
