China firmly opposes, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: The US unreasonably detains, inspects, and repatriates Chinese international students
On August 28th, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin presided over a regular press conference.
A reporter asked, according to reports, the Federal Bureau of Investigation recently stole the application materials of a Chinese international student studying in the United States, arrested and prosecuted him on charges of so-called visa fraud. The US Customs and Border Protection Bureau detained, investigated, and repatriated three Chinese international students who entered the United States without evidence and evidence. May I ask if the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has any comments on this?
Wang Wenbin's profile shows that the US unreasonably detains, interrogates, and repatriates Chinese international students, and even fabricates unfounded charges against them. This is indiscriminate suppression and persecution for political purposes, which China firmly opposes.
Wang Wenbin pointed out that cultural exchanges are the social foundation of China US relations, and academic education and technological exchanges are important components of China US cultural exchanges. The US side claims to support cultural exchanges in the fields of education and welcomes Chinese students, but in reality, it still continues the erroneous practices of the previous government, abuses the concept of national security, restricts and suppresses Chinese students from studying or researching in the US, seriously harms the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese students studying in the US, and seriously undermines the normal atmosphere of cultural exchanges and educational cooperation between China and the US.

Wang Wenbin emphasized that we urge the US to implement the statement welcoming Chinese students studying abroad, revoke the biased and discriminatory Executive Order No. 10043, and stop using national security as an excuse to suppress Chinese students studying in the US. China will continue to take necessary measures to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens, and also remind students studying in the United States to be vigilant of related risks.
