Previously, China had remained the world's largest outbound tourism market for several consecutive years. With the increase of international flights, the demand for outbound tourism such as business travel, visiting relatives and friends, graduation travel, and summer study tours is constantly being released, and outbound tourism is experiencing a good trend of orderly recovery.
The China Tourism Research Institute recently released the "Big Data Report on Outbound Tourism in the First Half of 2023", which shows that outbound tourism destinations received a total of 40.37 million mainland tourists in the first half of the year. Short distance outbound tourism is the first to recover, with 93.95% of tourists concentrated in the Asian region.
Feng Rao, the director of Ma Fengwo Tourism Research Institute, believes that further expanding the scope of national recovery for outbound team tourism destinations will have an impact on tourists' consumption decisions during the National Day Golden Week. It is expected that the recovery of the outbound tourism market will peak during the National Day Golden Week.
"After the release of the latest list, the popularity of tourism platforms has risen, indicating that Chinese consumers' willingness to travel abroad continues to rise. This is conducive to further unleashing the potential of tourism consumption, fully tapping into the spillover effects of outbound tourism, and injecting more confidence into the global economic recovery." said Lu Mengxi, director of Meituan Culture and Tourism Research Institute.
