China and Myanmar hold the 17th round of ministerial level meetings on the implementation of the Border Management and Cooperation Agreement
The 17th round of bureau level meetings on the implementation of the China Myanmar Border Management and Cooperation Agreement was held in Beijing from August 28 to 29, 2023. Hong Liang, Director General of the Department of Border and Ocean Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ng Ang kor, Director General of the Political Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar, jointly chaired the event. Representatives from foreign affairs, defense, commerce, immigration, and local governments of the two countries attended the meeting.
Both sides actively evaluated the bilateral relations and the implementation of the Agreement in recent years. In a friendly and warm atmosphere, they candidly and deeply exchanged views on topics such as maintaining clear and stable border lines, ensuring peace and tranquility in border areas, jointly promoting development and prosperity in border areas, creating a good ecological environment in border areas, and promoting the upgrading of border affairs cooperation mechanisms. They reached important consensus on improving meeting mechanisms, facilitating personnel exchanges, and combating cross-border cooperation in electronic fraud, and achieved positive results.
