At the entrance of the opening ceremony, athletes walk a "splendid path" under their feet. The colorful silk threads projected onto the ground flow, with over 300 circular lines covering the entire stadium runway, gradually transforming into splendid traditional Chinese patterns, symbolizing young athletes from all over the world on the journey of Sichuan embroidery to pursue their bright future.
Li Jianping, Chief Director of the Opening Ceremony of the Chengdu Universiade:
"The Road of Splendor" conveys our beautiful wishes and is one of the carefully planned events of this opening ceremony. The ancient weaving machine in the lead film weaves Sichuan brocade, weaving a dream path of colorful youth and a beautiful future for the athletes entering the field. From guiding signs to projections and leading films, there is a theme that college athletes from all over the world come to China, stepping on auspicious clouds and embarking on a "splendid path".
The guiding sign has unique craftsmanship
Chen Weiya, Chief Director of the Opening Ceremony of the Chengdu Universiade:
Sichuan brocade is abundant in the Chengdu area of Sichuan, with a history of over 2000 years, and is one of the four famous brocades in China. Shu embroidery has a history of over 3000 years and originated in the Chengdu region. Along with Shu brocade, it is known as the "treasure of Shu" and is one of the four famous embroideries in China.

The guiding sign held high by the Chinese delegation's guide is unique, combined with Shu brocade and Shu embroidery techniques, handmade by Hao Shuping, a representative inheritor of the national intangible cultural heritage project of Shu embroidery. The border of the guide sign is selected with lacquer patterns, and the fabric is made of sub golden Sichuan brocade with circular patterns. The auspicious patterns are embroidered on the four corners using Sichuan embroidery techniques. While expressing good wishes, the unique Sichuan embroidery is cleverly and appropriately presented to the audience at the opening ceremony.
