After the competition, Quan Hongchan said, "I had a fever a few days ago and my physical condition was not very good. I also didn't perform well in the 207C movement today. The coach has given me more confidence in this movement."
Chen Yuxi said, "There were some mistakes in the 407C movement today, possibly due to some impact on my physical fitness during consecutive World Championships and World Cups. At the beginning, I didn't have enough movement. I felt quite satisfied with the 207C movement, and I haven't been bad with the backward movement. Although I felt a bit unable to flip during training, I was quite excited today and jumped well."
This season, Chen Yuxi maintained an advantage over Quan Hongchan in the single player 10m platform competition. At the Xi'an World Cup and Fukuoka World Championships, Chen Yuxi won; At the Montreal World Cup, Quan Hongchan won.
"After experiencing three World Cups and one World Championships this year, I feel that my overall performance is becoming more and more stable, and my mentality is becoming more mature. I face various situations that arise during the competition with a stable mindset." Chen Yuxi said, "Having teammates and opponents like Quan Hongchan will further motivate me to move forward, improve myself, and launch an attack towards higher goals."
In the men's singles 3m springboard final, two time World Champion Wang Zongyuan made a small mistake in the fourth jump, but ultimately won the gold medal with a score of 540.60 points, leading second place by 76.45 points. German player Wezeman won a silver medal, which is the first medal won by the host player in this World Cup. American athlete Capobianco won third place.
21-year-old Wang Zongyuan has won three World Cups and one World Championships in the singles 3m springboard this season, but has not yet won an Olympic championship in this event in his professional career.
"I have performed quite well this season and I believe I can do even better," said Wang Zongyuan. "I am very eager for an Olympic gold medal in the 3m springboard singles event and have high expectations for the Paris Olympics. However, I also know that thinking too much is not good, and the process and results may have deviations. Step by step, I believe I will achieve the ideal results at the Paris Olympics."
