Changing mindset and innovating technology to see how enterprises can turn waste into "green" ->Methods | Stairs | Waste
Green development is a comprehensive and revolutionary transformation of production methods, lifestyles, ways of thinking, and values. To make the living environment more beautiful, the industrial structure lighter, and the development model greener, new energy and new technologies continue to stimulate new momentum in China today. From small businesses to large places, when environmental investment is no longer an external cost, energy conservation and low-carbon are the most economical choices. Next, go to the bank of the Yangtze River to explore the transformation of chemical waste from "gray" to "green".
Yichang TV reporter Han Jingwen: This is a pedestrian walkway on the Yangtze River bank in Yichang, Hubei. From the road surface to the flower bed decoration next to the walkway, it is made from waste generated by chemical plants. In the five provinces of Hubei, Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, and Anhui in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, 80% of China's phosphorus chemical enterprises are concentrated. The waste phosphogypsum produced by these enterprises is a major challenge for ecological and environmental protection management in the Yangtze River.
How to turn chemical waste into valuable resources? Through years of continuous technological breakthroughs, enterprises along the Yangtze River have finally solved key technical difficulties and achieved a series of breakthroughs in application.
At the Comprehensive Utilization Center of Phosphogypsum in Hubei Three Gorges Laboratory, the garden between buildings is shaded by green trees and blooming with flowers. The soil used for planting these plants is phosphogypsum, which has undergone harmless and improved treatment.

Cao Bensanlang, research assistant at the Comprehensive Utilization Center of Phosphogypsum in Hubei Three Gorges Laboratory: Through composting, plant straw and animal manure are naturally fermented under the action of microorganisms. Then, by planting plants and introducing animals such as earthworms, phosphogypsum is turned into real soil.
Building "Assembly" Green New Future
The trend of dual carbon is unstoppable, and the concept of energy conservation and low-carbon is giving new development logic to various industries. The construction industry, one of the key carbon emission industries, is gradually bidding farewell to the era of large-scale demolition and construction and is reshaping new building models. Have you ever seen building a house like building blocks?
CCTV reporter Zheng Yizhe: Many people have played the game of building houses with building blocks, using standardized components to assemble a complete building structure. And now the concept of prefabricated construction is increasingly being applied in building construction. The staircase in front of me is a prefabricated component made in advance in the factory. According to the previous process, this kind of staircase takes about a week to construct on one floor. Now, it can be installed within an hour and can be immediately put into use, making the construction efficiency even higher.

The 7th phase of the shantytown renovation and construction project in the Xushang Comprehensive Area of Jinan, Shandong Province. In addition to the main load-bearing structure being poured with concrete on site, the stairs, shear wall panels, and autoclaved lightweight concrete panels are all prefabricated components. The assembly rate of prefabricated components in this project has reached 50%.
Tian Yutao, Chief Engineer of the Xushang Comprehensive Area Shed Renovation and Construction Project of China Railway 14th Bureau: In the past, our traditional model used aluminum wood structures, which wasted a lot of wood resources and water resources, resulting in a large amount of construction waste. However, for us on-site, if we pull it over and install it directly upstairs, it will not produce any waste.
Prefabricated construction refers to a process in which the components required for construction are pre made in the factory, and then lifted and assembled into shape according to the drawings. This method has incomparable advantages in energy conservation, water conservation, reducing construction waste, and saving labor costs.
At the demonstration industrial base of prefabricated buildings of China Railway 14th Bureau, the four professional drawings of architecture, structure, electrical and equipment in traditional design drawings are integrated into one drawing and "translated" into mechanical and automation languages to convey to the assembly line of the workshop.

Zhang Ying, Technical R&D Director of the Zhangqiu Base of China Railway 14th Bureau Fangqiao Company: The normal traditional cast-in-place structure and pipeline pre embedding require slotting, which will produce noise, dust and other environmental pollutants. We have buried all the wire boxes and electrical boxes that need to be pre embedded, including reserved holes. After we finish these things from the factory in advance, these can be reduced.
According to calculations, compared to cast-in-place construction, prefabricated construction can reduce carbon emissions by 20% during the construction phase, reduce carbon emissions throughout the entire lifecycle by nearly 40%, reduce on-site construction personnel by 60% to 75%, and reduce building dust by 20% to 30%.
The "14th Five Year Plan for the Development of the Construction Industry" issued by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Rural Development proposes that by 2025, prefabricated buildings will account for more than 30% of newly constructed buildings; Greenization, industrialization, and intelligence have become important directions for low-carbon transformation and green development in the construction industry, and achieving the "dual carbon" goals.
CCTV reporter Zheng Yizhe: The raw materials used for producing concrete, such as sand, cement, and stones, have not actually changed, but their production scenarios have shifted from construction sites to more intensive, professional, and controllable standardized workshops. Energy conservation and emission reduction, as well as reducing the impact on the environment, are considerations that go beyond the economic scope and truly affect the development of the construction industry. We have experienced the efficiency improvement brought about by standardized production, from a handful of soil to a brick. Now, we are going through a process that is evolving from carts of loose concrete to rows of neat prefabricated components, with green becoming a more distinct background.
