Challenge Modi!, 26 Opposition Alliance Meetings | People's Party of India | Opposition Party
According to Reuters, 26 opposition parties in India announced on July 18th that they have formed an alliance called "India" to challenge the ruling Indian People's Party led by Prime Minister Modi in next year's parliamentary elections.
According to reports, the alliance stated in a statement that the People's Party of India is infringing on the characteristics of the Republic of India, promising to "defend the ideas about India enshrined in the constitution.".
The chairman of India's main opposition party, the National Congress Party, Malikarjon Karge, said that the name INDIA represents the "India National Development Inclusive Alliance.".
According to reports, 26 opposition parties in India held a two-day meeting in Bangalore. As the meeting was about to end, Karg told reporters, "The main purpose is to jointly defend democracy and the constitution."
The report points out that this is the second time these opposition parties have convened a meeting within a month to establish a political agenda before the elections.

Modi delivered a speech later on the 18th stating that the political alliance "built on a negative foundation" has never been successful, and he also reviewed the achievements of the National Democratic Alliance led by the People's Party of India in 1998.
According to reports, the People's Party of India organized a National Democratic Alliance meeting in the capital New Delhi on the 18th. This is the first time in many years that such a meeting has been held to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the alliance's establishment. The People's Party of India convened 38 political parties to attend the meeting.
The report points out that since Modi came to power in 2014 and was re elected in 2019, the National League for Democracy has been declining as Modi led the People's Party of India to a huge victory, weakening the influence of the alliance's partners.
Modi talked about opposition members at the National League for Democracy meeting and said, "We unite the Indian people, but they divide the Indian people and underestimate the determination of the ordinary Indian people."
