CCTV Financial Review | Taking advantage of the situation to consolidate and expand the development advantages of new energy vehicles in China | New Energy | Financial Review
The development of the new energy vehicle industry is running at a "Chinese speed" - Recently, China's 20th millionth new energy vehicle was taken offline in Guangzhou. According to data, in September 2020, the cumulative production of new energy vehicles in China exceeded 5 million, and in February 2022, it exceeded 10 million. This means that in just three years, the production of new energy vehicles in China has achieved a leap from 5 million to 20 million.
In fact, China's production and sales scale of new energy vehicles has ranked first in the world for 8 consecutive years. Data shows that from January to May this year, the production and sales of new energy vehicles completed 3.05 million and 2.94 million respectively, with year-on-year growth of 45.1% and 46.8%, respectively. The sales of new energy vehicles accounted for 27.7% of the total sales of new vehicles, continuing to maintain a good development momentum.
The advancement of the new energy vehicle industry cannot be achieved without China's forward-looking layout in the field of new energy. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, China has taken the lead in establishing a national strategy for developing new energy vehicles, continuing to formulate industrial development plans for 2020 and 2035. The State Council has approved the establishment of top-level design and promotion mechanisms for industrial development, and various departments have launched over 70 policy measures to support the development of the new energy vehicle industry. Together with local governments and industry enterprises, China has established a structurally complete and organically coordinated new energy vehicle industry system, forming a good development situation of mutual integration, symbiosis, and win-win cooperation between new energy vehicles and related industries.
At the same time, China's economic and social green transformation continues to deepen, creating a favorable industrial development environment for the rapid development of new energy vehicles. From January to May, the production of new energy vehicles, solar cells, and charging stations increased by 37%, 53.6%, and 57.7% year-on-year, respectively. In May, the export value of "new three types" products represented by lithium batteries, solar cells, and electric passenger vehicles increased by more than 50% year-on-year, and China's new energy vehicles became one of the representative products for China's foreign exports.
Standing at a new starting point, we should seize the opportunity and continue to promote the high-quality development of the new energy vehicle industry, making efforts from both supply and demand aspects to help new energy vehicles further break through in terms of quantity and quality. On April 28th, the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China pointed out during its analysis and research on the current economic situation and work that it is necessary to consolidate and expand the development advantages of new energy vehicles, accelerate the construction of charging piles, energy storage facilities, and the renovation of supporting power grids.
Looking to the future, on the one hand, it is necessary to strengthen the dominant position of automobile enterprises in innovation, support enterprises to strengthen the research and development of key core technologies, and constantly enhance the competitiveness of the industry in view of the direction of electrification, networking and intelligence in the transformation of the automobile industry. Automobile is a typical international industry. It is necessary to further deepen investment and technical cooperation, and promote the further development of the industry in open cooperation. On the other hand, in view of the relatively weak links and regions at present, we should make great efforts to solve the problems concerned by the common people, such as continuing to carry out the activities of new energy vehicles to the countryside, improving the charging infrastructure system, and further releasing the consumption potential of rural areas.
It is worth noting that recently, the General Office of the State Council and relevant departments of the State Council have successively introduced a series of policies for new energy vehicles, including continuing and optimizing the tax reduction and exemption policies for new energy vehicle purchases, further building a high-quality charging infrastructure system, and creating conditions for the leapfrog development of the new energy vehicle industry. There is reason to believe that in the near future, the new energy vehicle industry will usher in more innovative breakthroughs, and more and better new energy vehicles will emerge from China and sail towards the world.
