Causing 2 deaths and 13 injuries, crushing vehicles below. Bangkok's under construction elevated bridge suddenly collapsed
According to news reports from Bangkok Post and Thai Public Broadcasting, at around 6pm local time on July 10th, a viaduct under construction in Rathapan Regency, Bangkok suddenly collapsed, crushing vehicles below. Two people inside one of the vehicles died on the spot, while 13 others were injured.
The on-site video footage shows that there was a loud roar when the elevated bridge collapsed, and smoke filled the scene.

According to reports, the collapsed section of the elevated bridge is one of the sections of a 2.2 kilometer long elevated bridge designed to connect the Anu region with Lakkapon County. The collapsed section is approximately 500 meters long. The elevated bridge was originally expected to be completed in 2024.
Preliminary investigation shows that a crane that was originally operating suddenly overturned, causing the entire road section to fall to the ground, resulting in an accident. The Bangkok authorities stated that one of the deceased was an engineer responsible for supervising the work. This accident resulted in nearby traffic closures and power outages.
