The capital of Tajikistan, Dushanbe, is surrounded by an oasis surrounded by mountains, and the Little Dushanbe River, formed by the convergence of high mountain ice, snow, and melted water, is like a jade belt. Under the personal care of the leaders of China and Tajikistan, the first Luban workshop in Central Asia - Tajikistan Luban Workshop - started operation last year at Tajikistan's first higher technical education institution - Tajikistan Technical University.
As a Chinese cooperative school of Luban Workshop, Tianjin Vocational and Technical College of Urban Construction Management and Tower Technology University jointly built two majors, Urban Thermal Energy Application Technology and Engineering Measurement, and built two teaching areas, a Green Energy Training Center and an Intelligent Surveying and Mapping Training Center, covering a total area of 1138 square meters. They also donated 377 sets of teaching equipment, 84 teaching resources, and 217 decorative items. Under the leadership of Chinese teachers, the Luban Workshop in Tajikistan has become a vivid practice for China to share vocational education experiences with other countries, building a bridge of mutual understanding between the people of China and Tajikistan.
From scratch to something——
"To cultivate more professional and technical talents for the local area"
Dushanbe is the hottest in summer, with surface temperatures reaching up to 50 degrees Celsius. During the construction of the Luban Workshop in July last year, Wu Zhengpeng, Vice Dean of the School of Architecture and Engineering at Tianjin Urban Construction Management Vocational and Technical College, and several other teachers from China assembled every table, chair, and instrument equipment in the teaching room under such high temperatures.
"From scratch, it's really watching this workshop 'grow' bit by bit," said Wu Zhengpeng. From an empty gymnasium to classrooms equipped with top-notch subject equipment, Chinese teachers are very dedicated and dedicated.
"After we arrived, we personally felt the enthusiasm of the local government and schools for building the Luban Workshop. Tajikistan saw China's rapid development in recent years and wholeheartedly recognized our technology and philosophy. Another Chinese teacher, Zou Xiaoyu, who participated in the construction of the Luban Workshop, looked proud." We hope to do our best to build the Luban Workshop well and use it to cultivate more professional and technical talents for the local area. "
Tajikistan is known as the "country of high mountains" due to its mountainous terrain, with over 90% of its land area being mountainous. Vice President Shahrir of Tajik University, who participated in the construction of the Luban Workshop, told reporters that due to the influence of geographical environment, there is a high demand for urban heating in Tajikistan, and there is an urgent need for professional talents in urban thermal energy application technology. Upgrading infrastructure, building roads and bridges also require engineering surveying personnel. In the past, students could only rely solely on textbooks to learn technology. Now, at the Luban Workshop, students can have access to various instruments and equipment, making learning technology more convenient and efficient.
"It is not an exaggeration to say that there is no other school or institution in Tajikistan with such good equipment. The surveying and mapping department of Tajikistan has also expressed its intention to cooperate with us, hoping to cultivate professional talents for them in the future." Shah Rio told reporters that the talents cultivated by the Luban Workshop are the most scarce in Tajikistan's current national development and industrial upgrading. "The Luban Workshop cultivates talents for Tajikistan's future development, which everyone cherishes very much.".
Advanced equipment——
"Have the opportunity to learn about the latest technological developments"
The digital level, intelligent total station, and global navigation satellite system receiver standing in the center of the classroom represent the top technology surveying equipment in China and even the world, for students to learn and practice practical surveying operations. On the workbench near the classroom entrance, all 30 computers are equipped with 4 sets of virtual simulation learning software, which can apply 3D and other technologies to simulate dozens of actual scenes, allowing students to practice surveying and mapping through game like operations.

"Taking our 4-hectare campus as an example, if we use old equipment for surveying and mapping, it will take 15 days to complete the surveying and mapping, and using the new equipment in the Luban workshop will only take 3 hours." Toshir Zalilov, associate professor of the Engineering Surveying and Mapping Teaching and Research Office at Tate Tech University, is an authoritative expert in the field of surveying and mapping in the country. Despite his age, he is still active on the front line of teaching.
When talking about the teaching changes brought about by the Luban Workshop, Zalilov sighed and said that the surveying equipment used in school classes before was mostly outdated, requiring tedious debugging before use, and calculations could only be done manually. The Chinese equipment of Luban Workshop has been fully automated, with computer software for auxiliary calculations, making it easy to operate and get started. Due to the improvement of equipment, the difficulty of teaching has been greatly reduced. The surveying and mapping course, which was originally only available in the second year of university, can now be offered in the first year as well.
Wu Zhengpeng said, "Surveying and mapping is a rapidly developing and even rapidly changing discipline. At the end of the last century, we may have commonly used traditional methods mainly based on manual measurement. Nowadays, drones, virtual reality, and augmented reality have become common surveying and mapping technologies. The characteristics of industry and industry intersection are becoming more and more obvious, which puts higher requirements on vocational education."
Zalilov agrees with this and believes that the Luban Workshop will have a profound impact on the Tajik University of Technology and related fields throughout Tajikistan. "We have the opportunity to learn about the latest technological developments and accelerate the development of related disciplines in our country. I am pleased because we are about to cultivate the first batch of modern surveying and mapping talents who master the latest skills!"
Ta Tech University President Davlatzoda introduced that both master's and undergraduate students in related majors have the opportunity to study in the Luban Workshop. The Luban Workshop is also favored by local engineers and technicians, who have also requested to study at the Luban Workshop. In order to better promote China's vocational education experience and cultivate technical talents for the local area, Tianjin Urban Construction Management Vocational and Technical College and Tower Technology University are considering conducting social training. Both parties will jointly select a group of teachers and students to go to China for training. Gayulzod, a junior student at the School of Energy at Ta Tech University, told reporters that he heard that the school is going to select outstanding students to study in China this year. All students are working hard and hope to "learn the most advanced technology in China.".
Mutual promotion——
"Teachers from both China and Tajikistan have become intimate friends"
How to calculate the bending angle of heating pipes? Previously, this was a challenge for local thermal energy teachers. The common practice among teachers is to take a section of plastic pipe and break it roughly according to the bending angle of the sample to create an almost identical finished product. When the teachers from Tianjin Urban Construction Management Vocational and Technical College demonstrated angle measurement methods and accurately made bent pipes, local teachers were amazed and eager to learn calculation methods and manufacturing processes.
"In the first class, the Chinese teacher demonstrated the method of simmer bending calculation and made very accurate products based on the calculation results. After class, the Ta Fang teacher specially took photos of our calculation process in the notebook to study and study." Wei Xuchun, a Chinese teacher majoring in thermal energy, recalled the scene at that time and referred to it as the "starting point of friendship between teachers from China and Ta.".
Wu Zhengpeng also deeply understands mutual respect, mutual promotion, and mutual enlightenment. Teacher Tafang is very willing to learn the cutting-edge knowledge and technology in the subject. In order to facilitate communication, every Tafang teacher has registered on WeChat and will communicate with us anytime if they don't understand anything. We do our best, and they work hard. In this kind of interaction, teachers from both sides improve training content according to local conditions, adjust undergraduate teaching plans, and consolidate learning achievements.
Li Qingbin, project leader of the Luban Workshop in Tajikistan and Secretary of the Party Committee of Tianjin Urban Construction Management Vocational and Technical College, said, "What I am most happy to see is that teachers from both China and Tajikistan have become close friends." Local teachers often warmly invite Chinese teachers to "sit at home", allowing Chinese teachers who have traveled far away to feel the warmth of home.
Treating people with sincerity and exchanging hearts, the Luban Workshop is a microcosm of the flourishing development of China Tajikistan cooperation. Chinese Ambassador to Tajikistan, Ji Shumin, said that he believes that the Luban Workshop will cultivate more professional and technical talents needed for the development of Tajikistan, promote the industrialization process of Tajikistan, and provide new examples for practical cooperation between China and Central Asian countries.
