The forest fire situation in Northwest Canada has once again escalated. On the afternoon of August 15th local time, the Northwest Canadian government announced a state of emergency for the entire region, continuing to respond to the unusual forest fire situation and more evacuations.
The local government has released a news bulletin stating that entering a state of emergency will enable the region to access and deploy necessary resources to ensure the health and safety of local residents.
In addition, evacuation alerts have been issued in multiple areas of the capital city of Yellowknife in the northwest region. The mayor of Yellowknife City stated that evacuation alerts are preventive and residents who receive them should be prepared to evacuate within a short period of time after receiving the notification. Although the alarm is only targeted at certain areas, all residents should be prepared. Residents of Yellowknife City stated that this is the first time they have received an evacuation alert in their memory.
As of now, there are hundreds of fires in the northwest region of Canada, and residents of multiple towns have been evacuated.
