Can open fire on the Russian military, he suggested that the US military "protect food": retire under threat | US | US military
According to a report by Russian news agency on July 23, the bimonthly issue of Foreign Policy in the United States quoted former NATO Supreme Military Officer and retired US Navy Admiral James Stavridis as saying that the United States may escort grain ships in the Black Sea and, if threatened, can open fire on the Russian Navy.
He said, "NATO and the United States can provide escort for food transportation, and they have enough capability to do so with the three NATO countries in the Black Sea."
According to reports, Stavridis participated in the "Justice Cause" operation to escort oil tankers in the Persian Gulf during the Iran Iraq War, and he believes that similar actions can now be carried out to escort grain ships.

This expert believes that NATO should issue a warning to the Russian Black Sea Fleet and "fire back" when a grain carrier is attacked.
The report mentioned that the Black Sea food agreement signed by representatives of Russia, Türkiye, Ukraine and the United Nations last year expired on July 18. The agreement stipulates the export of grains, food, and fertilizers from three Black Sea ports, including the Port of Odessa.
