Affected by sustained heavy rainfall, some areas of Zhuozhou City in Baoding, Hebei Province have experienced severe waterlogging and trapped residents. At present, Zhuozhou City has launched the Level I emergency response to major meteorological disasters, requiring all departments at all levels of the city to immediately start the emergency response to rainstorm disasters, and make every effort to do a good job in the prevention and response to heavy rainfall according to the requirements of the plan.
On August 1st, Ms. Huang, who lives in Zhuozhou City, told Pengpai News that in recent days, the water level in her residential area has been continuously rising, flooding two-thirds of the cars parked on the first floor. At present, there is no power or water supply in the community, and her family only has some bread in stock.
The situation is more serious for Ms. Huang's sister's family. Ms. Huang said that her sister and brother-in-law rented a warehouse at Xiguan Wood Market in Taoyuan Street, Zhuozhou City to do Taobao business, selling semi-finished products such as fried chicken and hamburgers. On July 31st at noon, my sister didn't even have lunch and rushed to the warehouse to inspect the goods. At around 4 pm that afternoon, they initially wanted to rescue the goods, but the water was too strong. Not only were the warehouse goods submerged, but people were also trapped. At around 9 o'clock that evening, Ms. Huang learned from her sister that the water level outside the warehouse had reached her neck. Their warehouse was located at the innermost part of the timber market, and everyone couldn't swim, so they had to hide inside the warehouse.
Ms. Huang said that at the beginning, her sister, brother-in-law and colleagues hid on the roof of the ice house in the warehouse. But at 1:00 a.m. on August 1, the ice house collapsed. They took several foam boxes and floated to the warehouse door with the help of foam boxes.
"At around 5am on August 1st, the rain was getting heavier and the water was accumulating more and more." Ms. Huang said, and her sister called to inform her that they had taken refuge on the second floor platform of a two-story house next door. There were already more than ten people waiting for rescue, including two elderly people.
"Since yesterday until now, we have been calling the rescue team to request assistance." Ms. Huang said that this morning at around 5 o'clock, the Zhuozhou rescue team informed her sister that the province will send a team to come down for rescue. The rescue team arrived at around 11 noon. But due to the fact that the timber market is filled with wooden floating objects, the road is blocked and the kayak will be punctured. The rescue team has temporarily left to go to other places for rescue. "By around twelve o'clock, the water level had already soaked to the knees, almost three meters deep."
At around 16:00 on August 1st, Ms. Huang said that her sister informed that she had been rescued and boarded a kayak. The Shanghai rescue team came to rescue her. "Thank you very much, everyone."
