In June 2023, the development index of China's express delivery industry was 366.3, a year-on-year increase of 26.6%. The industry scale has steadily increased, the network layout has been further optimized, and the ability for coordinated development of the industry has been further enhanced.

From the four primary indicators of China's express delivery development index, in June, the express delivery development scale index was 442.1, a year-on-year increase of 14.4%. In the first half of the year, the volume of express delivery business will exceed 60 billion pieces, with a year-on-year growth rate of over 17%. The revenue of express delivery business is expected to exceed 550 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth rate of about 11.5%. Firstly, the market size has steadily expanded. In the first quarter, the industry basically achieved normalized operation, and the business volume increased month by month, with a year-on-year growth rate of 11%; In the second quarter, the industry's development chassis was stable, with a monthly business volume of over 10 billion pieces, and the growth rate of business volume is expected to exceed 22%.

The volume of international/Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan business increased by 46.8% year-on-year in the first quarter, and the growth rate in the second quarter is expected to significantly increase.

Fourthly, regional balance has improved. In the first half of the year, the proportion of business volume in the central and western regions further increased.

Wang Yuehan, Director of the Industrial Economy Research Department of the Development Research Center of the National Postal Administration, stated that in the first half of the year, the industry's operating chassis was stable, and its scale steadily expanded. The development of the express delivery industry showed full resilience and good potential. The per capita frequency of express delivery usage has increased year-on-year, and the industry and residents' lives have become increasingly close, playing a positive role in realizing people's aspirations for a better life. The industry achieved a good start in the first half of the year mainly due to four factors: optimizing the development environment through policy dividends, strengthening the foundation and enhancing development capabilities, exploring potential and increasing opportunities through industrial collaboration, and accelerating overseas layout through smooth channels.

In June, the express delivery service quality index was 531.3, a year-on-year increase of 58.6%. From the perspective of sub indicators, the public satisfaction with express delivery services is expected to be 82.2 points, a year-on-year increase of 3.3 points. The 72 hour on-time rate in key areas is expected to be 83.8%, an increase of 6.4 percentage points year-on-year. In the first half of the year, the technological empowerment of the industry has improved quality and efficiency, refined services for agricultural products have been provided, and multiple measures have been taken to improve the quality of end services. The quality of industry services has steadily improved. Wang Yuehan stated that promoting the high-quality development of cold chain delivery is not only an important manifestation of the industry's ability to enhance modern agricultural services, but also an important focus on promoting the transformation and revitalization of rural industries, and promoting the entry of agricultural specialty products into thousands of households. In the first half of the year, express delivery companies strengthened the construction of cold chain facilities, promoted innovative applications of cold chain packaging, enhanced cold chain transportation capabilities, optimized cold chain service plans, continuously improved cold chain service functions, and contributed to the industry's efforts in promoting precise and efficient integration of cold chain product production and sales.

In June, the express delivery development capability index was 225.2, a year-on-year increase of 1.6%. From the perspective of sub indicators, the industry's support for online retail sales is expected to exceed one trillion yuan, with an increase in the density of urban and rural network outlets and further improvement in labor productivity. In the first half of the year, the industry continued to promote infrastructure construction, and network resilience and connectivity steadily increased. Wang Yuehan stated that in the first half of the year, with the joint promotion of government departments and express delivery enterprises, the county and rural express delivery network gradually improved, the quality and efficiency of express delivery services in established villages steadily improved, and the construction of a good industrial ecosystem for coordinated development with modern agriculture accelerated. In the second half of the year, the industry will continue to deepen the construction of rural postal and express delivery systems, make good use of existing policies, and improve the institutional system in the field of rural postal and express delivery, in accordance with the requirements of documents such as the Opinions of the General Office of the State Council on Accelerating the Construction of Rural Postal and Express Logistics Systems and the Key Points of Postal Service for Rural Revitalization in 2023. Focusing on county-level postal public distribution centers and village level postal logistics comprehensive service stations, we will accelerate the improvement of the three-level postal network system. In the first half of the year, driven by factors such as policy dividends and consumer recovery, the industry environment continued to improve and high-quality development steadily advanced.
