On the afternoon of July 4, President Xi Jinping attended the 23rd meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization by video in Beijing and delivered an important speech, uniting efforts for the SCO to work together in the same boat, drawing a blueprint for the development and growth of the SCO, and injecting more certainty and strong positive energy into the maintenance of peace and development on the Eurasian continent and the world.
Currently, the contradictions between world unity and division, peace and conflict, cooperation and confrontation are becoming increasingly prominent. The international community calls for more positive forces to support unity against division, peace against conflict, and cooperation against confrontation. As the most populous and vast regional cooperation organization in the world, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization adheres to the "Shanghai Spirit" of mutual trust, mutual benefit, equality, consultation, respect for diverse civilizations, and pursuit of common development. It has attracted more and more attention, enthusiasm, and expectations from countries, regions, and international organizations. It has a responsibility and obligation to play a more important role in maintaining regional peace, security, and stability, expanding the cake of common interests among member countries, and promoting the development of the global governance system towards a more democratic, just, and reasonable direction.
Faced with new situations, tasks, and challenges, as well as strong expectations from all parties, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) should increase mutual support, deepen mutual understanding and political trust, jointly oppose interference in the internal affairs of other countries under any pretext, and firmly grasp its own future and destiny; To further strengthen security cooperation, coordinate responses to various traditional and non-traditional security challenges, continuously improve the ability to resolve security risks, and maintain regional and global security and stability; We should promote the in-depth development of regional practical cooperation, strengthen the connection between high-quality joint construction of the "the Belt and Road" and national development strategies and regional cooperation initiatives, and stimulate regional economic vitality; We need to strengthen exchanges and mutual learning, advocate for peaceful coexistence and harmonious coexistence among different civilizations, continuously expand channels for cultural exchanges, and bring the hearts and minds of the people of SCO member countries closer together; We must adhere to transcending differences in ideology, social systems, and development paths, advocate multilateralism, and promote global governance towards a more just and reasonable direction.
