"The air in China is sweet to breathe!" On the evening of August 6th at 11 o'clock, Qin Fei and Lv Ming, who had just returned from the border port, excitedly waited for their flight to Kunming at Xishuangbanna Airport in Yunnan.
In the past three years, their experience in overseas fraud dens has been like a real-life version of "All for One", with some scenes even more brutal than the movie plot. What exactly did they go through? A reporter from the Legal Daily recently conducted an interview with him.
Being tempted by high salaries and going astray
"The salary is very good, and once you come, you can earn money." In August 2020, Qin Fei from Yongjia Mountain in Zhejiang Province and Lv Ming from the same village learned through netizen "Mr. Liu" that working as a restaurant waiter in a certain place in Southeast Asia is quite good. The two of them, who have neither education nor any technical skills, bid farewell to their relatives and friends and went to a foreign country with a try mentality.
After arriving at their destination, the passports of the two were confiscated by General Manager Liu, and the so-called "restaurant" was actually a poorly decorated office building with armed personnel armed with live ammunition guarding the entrance. Qin Fei and Lv Ming realized that they had been locked up in a "fraud park".
When the two of them expressed their desire to leave, "Mr. Liu" changed his face and said, "Either complete the performance before leaving, or ask your family to pay the ransom.". Watching the ferocious management personnel, the two remained silent and could only follow them to the employee dormitory.
"The dormitories there are simply uninhabited, smelly and disgusting," Qin Fei said. The more than ten square meters of employee dormitories accommodate more than ten people, either sleeping on the ground or on wooden boards.
What made Qin Fei even more desperate was his diet. "In the three years I've been there, I haven't had a normal meal, and the food there isn't even as good as the pig food in our village.".
"The project we are working on is actually a 'pig killing plate'. We first pretend to be 'Bai Fumei' and 'Gao Fushuai' and search for targets to date on the internet, and then use insider information to lure them into investing or gambling. On the first day of arriving at the 'fraud park', Qin Fei and Lv Ming were asked to learn script scripts and scripts, and use their phones to search for potential targets on social media.".
In a large office, there are over 20 people sitting, each controlling a dozen or so mobile phones. Qin Fei and Lv Ming usually use packaged "Bai Fumei" accounts.
"If the other party requests a voice or video call, the company will immediately call a female model to deal with it." Lv Ming said that in order to completely trap the victim in the scam, the company has also found several beautiful female models on standby at any time.
Failure to complete performance will result in corporal punishment
"We work about 14 hours a day, and if we don't achieve our goals, we will face physical punishment such as squatting and running." Qin Fei said, "If someone runs away, physical punishment is not the only thing.".
"One early morning, two young men tied a rope and tried to climb down the window to escape. However, they were caught by the company's cleaning staff. After being caught, the two of them were repeatedly beaten and not a single part of their bodies was good." Qin Fei recalled, describing the scene at the time, "One of them was disabled and sold to another place, and I'm not sure where they went.".
Under extreme mental pressure, almost everyone in the "park" dared not resist and was forced to constantly search for new scammers every day.
"Everyone here knows they are committing fraud and knows it's illegal, but if they don't do it, they will be beaten and over time, they will become numb," Qin Fei said.
Although Qin Fei and Lv Ming work day and night for the fraud group, their debts are increasing.
"Over there, even taking a breath of air costs money," Qin Fei said. They not only have to pay for meals, beds, water and electricity, but also charge for equipment used for fraudulent phones. In three years, they not only haven't received a penny of salary, but also bear debts of over 100000 yuan.
After escaping, he reported to the police and was arrested again
At the end of 2021, due to various factors, Qin Fei's "park" could not continue to operate, and Qin Fei and Lv Ming were sold by General Manager Liu to other nearby "fraudulent parks" for work, also engaged in "pig killing plates".
The fraud group is particularly sensitive, and Lv Ming and I are often rented out by Mr. Liu to work in different 'parks'. I can't remember how many' parks' we have changed. Qin Fei said that he had escaped during the process of changing the "park" and called the police locally. However, what was waiting for was not rescue, but "Mr. Liu". "I thought I would definitely die at that time. Fortunately, they didn't take action, but I owe them another sum of money.".
During the process of being "rented out" time and time again, Qin Fei pretended to be "honest" and gradually gained the trust of "Mr. Liu". During his pretended work period, he made contact with his family and sought opportunities to escape.
In July 2023, the Public Security Bureau of Yongjia County, Zhejiang Province, discovered clues about Qin Fei and Lv Ming being scammed by a group outside of their predicament during the summer security crackdown and rectification operation. After learning about the relevant situation, with the cooperation of the local elites in Yongjia, they finally broke through the obstacles and safely rescued the two individuals back to their home country.
Now, Qin Fei and Lv Ming, who have successfully returned to China, have regained their freedom. However, after three years of living in the park, they have not only suffered physical harm, but also indelible psychological harm.
