Bravely Building Defense Lines for the Sound of Langlang Reading - Jilin Province fully guarantees the timely start of school in areas affected by rainfall
The Party flag flutters high on the frontline at the grassroots level
"On the road of life, everyone will encounter difficulties and setbacks, it depends on whether you can overcome them. Once you overcome them, you are a hero and a strong person in life." On August 20th, Jinma Town Central Primary School in Shulan City, Jilin Province opened a new semester as scheduled. On the first lesson of school, the school's mental health teacher used inspirational quotes to inspire students who had just suffered from the flood to bravely overcome difficulties.
At the beginning of August, Jilin Province was hit by severe rainstorm and flood. The strongest rainfall ever recorded occurred in Shulan City, and 11 schools in the city were affected, including Jinma Town Central Primary School.
"During the most severe period of the disaster, the average water depth on campus was two meters, and the entire campus was soaked in floods for almost 48 hours. The bungalow areas where the boys' dormitories and teachers' cafeteria were located were all washed away, and the newly built activity rooms were also severely damaged," said Yang Chunjuan, the principal of Jinma Town Central Primary School.
To ensure the timely start of school, the school began the first mud removal work on August 9th. "The thickness of the mud on the playground is up to 30 cm, and the indoor mud is also 10 cm. It is difficult to walk, and the dredging is even more difficult. The party members and teachers of the school led other teachers to form an emergency team to assist the disinfection and sterilization team for six days, and a total of more than 1000 cubic meters of silt was cleared," said Yang Chunjuan.
After completing the dredging work, the school teachers followed the requirements and sealed all indoor and outdoor floors with quicklime to prevent the growth of bacteria and mosquitoes. Yang Chunjuan said, "The 12000 square meter campus covers a whole four times, and the teachers don't complain or feel tired."
The Red Army teacher Xiang, who participated in flood control and disaster relief, is about to retire. He said, "As an old party member, I cannot be absent, let alone this is a big deal to ensure that children start school on time!"
In addition to the post disaster dredging and disinfection and sterilization work, Shulan Education Bureau also organized schools to learn about the disaster situation of students' families one by one, and organized a number of professionally qualified party members and teachers to set up a voluntary team of psychological services to provide psychological intervention and counseling services for the affected people, teachers and students. As of August 20th, all 55 public primary and secondary schools and kindergartens in Shulan City have opened as scheduled.
Since the beginning of the flood season, several townships in Yushu, a county-level city managed by Changchun City, have also experienced catastrophic floods. "Many parents are worried about whether the school can start normally, but the reconstruction after the disaster is progressing quickly and the school is starting as scheduled." Xie Xiaolei, the principal of Hongxing Township Central Primary School in Yushu City, spoke with excitement.
During the orderly promotion of post disaster reconstruction, State Grid Changchun Power Supply Company specially formed 9 campus safety and power supply party member service teams to conduct hidden danger inspections on the electrical equipment of 9 primary and secondary schools affected by the disaster, fully ensuring the safety of post disaster campus electricity use. Before the start of the school year, the Party member service team walked into the disaster stricken school and inspected 263 electrical switches, sockets, lighting fixtures, and other equipment on campus. More than 190 commonly used electrical appliances such as rice cookers, electric kettles, and induction cookers were dehydrated and dehumidified. At the same time, we strengthened guidance on the safe use of electricity in classrooms, canteens, and electric heating equipment, and focused on investigating the electricity usage and needs of students at home.
On August 13th, all 33 party member assault teams of Jilin Baishan Border Management Detachment were mobilized, working together with local party committee and government, enterprise and public institution staff, and community volunteers to join the front line of flood prevention. According to the plan requirements, Lin Junchen, Deputy Director of Xinglong Police Station of Linjiang Brigade in Baishan City, led a party member assault team to be responsible for the safety inspection and dredging work of the Jianguo Elementary School area in the jurisdiction. On the afternoon of August 13th, the rain gradually increased. Lin Junchen commanded the team members to lead nearby residents to move towards the uphill area of the street, and ensured that every elderly person and child was accompanied by family members or police officers. According to the pre drill content, divide into three groups to carry sandbags in a streamlined manner, and be sure to block the gaps near the school! After nightfall, the members of the party member assault team used the lights of flashlights to block the gaps near the school, eliminate sewage and mud, and do their best to provide guarantees for the safe and smooth start of school for the children.
"Classmates, these sandbags in front of us were carried over by party members during the flood season. Their function is to block the influx of large water into the school and protect the safety of teachers and students." On August 21st, next to the wall of the middle school in Malugou Town, Changbai Korean Autonomous County, Baishan City, Li Peng, a political instructor at the Malugou Border Police Station, taught the "First Lesson of Flood Prevention at the Beginning of School". In the middle and later stages of the flood season in Jilin Province, several areas in Changbai County experienced sudden short-term heavy rainfall. In order to fully ensure the timely and safe opening of schools in the jurisdiction, the police officers of the Baishan Border Management Detachment have formed a party member assault team to carry out safety hazard inspections and anti drowning and flood propaganda and education. The Party member assault team of the Malugou Border Police Station has set up a flood prevention "school protection post" to check the smoothness of school corridors and emergency exits on a daily basis, provide instructions for safe electricity use, and guide the storage and use of flood prevention materials and equipment according to the drill content. "Although the rainfall has ended, as police officers and party members and cadres, our responsibility and mission to safeguard the safety of people's lives and property has always been on our shoulders. We will continue to do a good job in all aspects of security work, fully protect students, agriculture, and production, and build a strong safety defense line." Li Peng said.
