More than 20 years ago, Ye Cong, who had just started working, caught up with the approval of the 7000 meter manned submersible of the Jiaolong. At that time, China's diving ability was less than 600 meters. Foreign colleagues have heard that China is planning to develop a 7000 meter class manned submersible, and they all question whether it is possible. With a high degree of blockade on manned deep diving technology, Ye Cong and his colleagues are learning and designing, trying to tackle this "hard nut".
During the sea trial of the Jiaolong, Ye Cong volunteered to serve as a diver. During the sea trial, the Jiaolong encountered an electrical insulation fault alarm. Continue diving, there is a possibility of water leakage accidents; If you choose to float up, the fault may disappear, making it difficult to locate the fault point, and even unable to obtain fault data. After careful consideration, Ye Cong and his colleagues chose to set off again, and after several dives, they finally located the fault point.
"To challenge the remaining 0.2%"
The Jiaolong has been successfully developed, with a diving depth of over 7000 meters and a diving ability to cover 99.8% of the seabed area. But Ye Cong said, "We cannot stop here, we must challenge the remaining 0.2%." In 2016, China's 10000 meter manned submersible "Struggler" launched research and development, and Ye Cong became the chief designer.
During that period, it can be said that there were no holidays or even the concept of "commuting" for him. On November 10, 2020, the USS Struggler launched a challenge towards the deepest part of the world's oceans and successfully landed at the bottom of the Mariana Trench. The bottom depth is 10909 meters!

In 2012, the Jiaolong had a "heaven and earth communication" with the crew of the Shenzhou-9 spacecraft. Now, the Chinese space station "Tiangong" is soaring in space, and the "Struggler" is exploring the deep sea.
From less than 600 to 10000 meters, China's footsteps in exploring the world have already penetrated the deep sea. Ye Cong firmly said, "We will also do our best to climb the peak of deep-sea technology and achieve greater deep-sea dreams and deep diving dreams."
