Belarus Defense Minister: Russia and Belarus may have direct conflict with NATO in the future Ukraine | Meeting | Conflict
According to today's Russian television website, Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khlenin stated at an international security conference held in Russia on August 15th that "it is clear" that Russia and Belarus may have direct conflicts with NATO in the future. Khrushchev warned that the conflict in Ukraine has evolved into a "global confrontation between the West and the East.".
According to the report, Lenin told attendees that given the increase in Western military spending, "the conclusion is clear: the possibility of direct military conflict with NATO in the future has become very clear.".
The minister added, "It is not a coincidence that the Republic of Belarus regards the return of tactical nuclear weapons to its territory as an effective strategic deterrent factor."
According to reports, Russian President Putin announced in March that Russia will deploy nuclear weapons in Belarus in response to Britain's supply of depleted uranium bombs to Kiev. Alexei Polisik, Director of the Second Department of the CIS State Affairs Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated last month that Moscow will only dismantle these weapons after the United States withdraws its nuclear missiles from Europe and dismantles the related infrastructure.
The report also mentioned that the Kremlin claimed that Western countries have allowed Ukrainian drones to attack Russian civilians and have become "supporters of terrorism.".
"Undoubtedly, the European power elites are focusing on a global war against the East," Herlenin said at the meeting. "Today, this battle has evolved into a global confrontation between the West and the East on Ukrainian territory. Ukraine's proxy war has actually put the Earth on the edge of World War III."
Putin has also used similar language to describe this conflict, seeing it as an attempt by the United States and its affiliated allies to prevent the emergence of a multipolar world order. He stated last year that the Russian military is not only fighting against the Ukrainian army, but also against the "entire Western military machine".
