On the 2nd, the Beijing Meteorological Observatory reported that from 20:00 on July 29th to 7:00 on August 2nd, Beijing experienced extreme heavy rainfall. The continuous heavy rainfall has caused serious damage to many areas such as Mentougou and Fangshan, and some urban infrastructure lines such as transportation, communication, and water supply have been cut off at one point. Multiple units in Beijing mobilized their elite forces in a timely manner, racing against time to repair the "urban lifeline".
Beijing has experienced unprecedented heavy rainfall. According to data released on the 1st, this round of disasters has caused a total of 44673 people in 13 districts to be affected, with a total of 127000 threatened people transferred. The economic losses caused by the disasters are currently being counted.
Dajian Road is an important transportation route for goods and residents in Fangshan. On the afternoon of the 2nd, a reporter from China News Agency arrived at the No.1 Dashihe Bridge located on Dajian Road in Fangshan District and saw that some of the bridge body had collapsed, and multiple large machinery such as bulldozers were operating. Dozens of engineering personnel were also working intensively to carry out related repair construction.
Ding Zhiqiang, Deputy Section Chief of the Seventh Highway Department of Beijing Construction and Maintenance Group, introduced that due to the impact of heavy rainfall, the water level of Dashi River rapidly rose, and the continuous impact of the river water caused the collapse of the bridge head slab in the western section of Bridge No. 1. After discovering the danger, they quickly dispatched rescue personnel, machinery and equipment to the scene for repair work.
"Since entering the site in the early morning of the 1st, the progress of the project has been continuously advancing. While ensuring safety, rescue personnel have been working day and night, taking turns to take action. We want to do our best to complete the repair as soon as possible and help restore production and living order as soon as possible." Ding Zhiqiang said.
The relevant person in charge of the Fangshan Highway Branch of the Beijing Municipal Transportation Commission told reporters that as of the 1st, over 30 roads in Fangshan have been greatly affected by precipitation, many of which are impassable, and 8 townships have been severely affected. In response to this, the sub bureau immediately conducted a comprehensive investigation of the damage to roads and bridges, organized bridge testing, survey and engineering design units as soon as possible, and formulated repair plans for the identified damaged points. After being reviewed by the expert group, the plan was immediately implemented, in order to create favorable conditions for the subsequent work of medical, health, power, communication and other departments.
The Beijing Municipal Transportation Commission introduced that the transportation department is fully committed to ensuring road traffic safety, and the city's highway flood prevention emergency rescue team has invested more than 4000 people and more than 1300 sets of mechanical equipment. At the same time, we will make every effort to open up the life channels of Fangshan and Mentougou. Coordinate the efforts of all parties, on the basis of the already deployed rescue team, urgently mobilize more than 1100 emergency personnel and 300 sets of various equipment overnight, formulate a meticulous work plan, and fully carry out rescue work, striving to open up the life passage of the disaster stricken people as soon as possible.
On the 2nd, the reporter learned from State Grid Beijing Electric Power that in response to the severe power supply situation in some areas such as Fangshan and Mentougou, the company has organized more than 1200 people, 433 repair vehicles, 109 generator cars, 164 sets of generators, and sufficient repair materials to rush to the scene for support. On the 3rd, rescue and repair forces from various specialties and levels in the power industry will still be deployed to the front line to carry out equipment and facility inspections, power grid operation monitoring, customer service guarantee, and other work.
We will spare no effort in repairing public infrastructure, properly resettling people's lives, and implementing post disaster recovery and reconstruction work. Beijing will support and help disaster affected people overcome difficulties and rebuild their homes.
