Beautiful Tianfu Charm Moves Youth Hearts the Most in China | Chengdu | Youth
Watching pandas, enjoying Sichuan opera, eating hot pot and covered bowl tea, and experiencing intangible cultural heritage skills... Chengdu, outside of the Universiade, is equally exciting and diverse. In recent days, Chinese and foreign friends who have come to Chengdu have walked into various parts of the city, experienced the charm of Tianfu culture, felt the fusion of ancient and fashionable, and experienced the comfortable and leisurely life in Chengdu.
Since entering the "Universiade era", Chengdu has not only arranged various competitions properly, but also presented the city's profound historical heritage, rich cultural charm, and hospitable Chengdu people to the world with a brand new urban appearance and highly creative cultural and tourism activities, fully arranging the schedules of guests.
"Chengdu Bashi"
On July 26th, the cultural activities of the Chengdu Universiade Park kicked off at the Guixi Ecological Park. The event runs through the entire competition period, allowing citizens and tourists to experience the common pulse of culture and sports at their doorstep and in the park, and together welcome the "shining moment" of this city.
On the first day of the event, 30 members of the International Sports Federation Executive Committee came to the scene to participate in the experience. Reno Ed, Acting President of the International Federation of Sports Federations, said after experiencing archery and basketball competitions in the "event check-in area" on site, "These activities are excellent and very important for showcasing Chinese culture, allowing people to understand China's wisdom and long history.". What impressed him even more was that Chengdu built many convenient sports facilities in preparation for the Universiade, allowing all citizens to share this grand event.
In recent days, Chengdu residents have actively interacted with international friends, gathering and getting to know each other in communities, scenic spots, parks, and other places, showcasing their youthful charm, promoting cultural exchange, and enhancing youth friendship. The excited international friend still praises in the newly learned Sichuan dialect, "Chengdu Bashi!"
"Chengdu is a beautiful city, and the people here are very friendly and enthusiastic. We look forward to the Universiade leaving a valuable wealth for Chengdu and allowing everyone to achieve their dreams in Chengdu," said Paul Ferreira, Director General of the International Federation of Major Students
"I need to take this sachet back"
In the entrance section of the opening ceremony, colorful silk threads with changing light and shadow flow on the ground, weaving into splendid traditional Chinese patterns, forming a "Silk Road" paved with Sichuan embroidery. Each delegation's guide holds a Shu embroidery guide sign, guiding young athletes to pursue a "bright future"
Recalling the wonderful moments of the opening ceremony of the Universiade, 78 year old Hao Shuping, a representative inheritor of the national intangible cultural heritage project of Shu embroidery, couldn't help but feel excited: "I led a team to use Shu brocade as the foundation, and meticulously made the guiding signs, presenting the Shu embroidery with thousands of years of history in such a unique way. This is the pride of all Shu embroidery people and the pride of all Chengdu people."
During the Universiade, the Universiade Village organized cultural exchange activities with Chinese characteristics, contemporary atmosphere, and youthful charm, bringing excellent traditional Chinese culture to athletes and bringing young people from various countries closer together through cultural exchange. Italian athlete Linda recalled the time she spent with her grandmother as a child during her experience of making sachets. She said, "I want to take this sachet back and give it to my grandmother, so she can also experience Chinese culture."
The profound cultural heritage not only fills the field of the Universiade, but also permeates throughout the city. As a designated art event for the Chengdu Universiade, the dance drama "The Giant Panda" has been performed for eight consecutive times, receiving nearly 10000 viewers and presenting an artistic feast that combines traditional Chinese cultural characteristics with international first-class stage aesthetics for friends from various countries. The Chengdu Museum, Jinsha Site, Wuhou Temple, and Du Fu Thatched Cottage also vividly tell the history and culture of Chengdu to young people from various countries.
The Kuanzhai Alley Historical and Cultural District continues to hold the "Beautiful Sichuan Universiade with Me" brotherly city state cultural exchange activity to welcome the Universiade. The "Encounter Tianfu Sichuan Intangible Cultural Heritage Boutique Art Exhibition" allows visitors to visit and experience on-site the production of intangible cultural heritage techniques such as palm weaving, bamboo weaving, and lacquerware. The "Encounter Tianfu Market" prepares numerous visible, tangible, and portable "cultural gifts". Swiss athlete Muller praised the craftsmanship, color, and artistic imagination of his weaving works after visiting and experiencing the event. He also left a message saying, "Thank you to the Universiade for giving us the opportunity to learn about such profound Chinese culture."
International style, Chinese style, Bashu charm
"In the past two weeks, I feel like I've been back home," said Brazilian athlete Fernanda, who felt at home on his first visit to China. "No matter what I need, volunteers will provide assistance; seeing pandas with my own eyes is even more joyful.".
Since the opening of the Universiade, the giant panda base has been highly sought after by both domestic and foreign tourists, and official retail stores for Universiade licensed products in various parts of the city have also been bustling with people. Universiade licensed products with "giant pandas" as the main element continue to sell well.
Even before the opening of the Universiade, Chengdu had carefully designed and connected 16 key cultural exchange activity points into 11 urban cultural sightseeing experience routes, which were released to guests from various countries. Since the opening of the Universiade, thousands of athletes and guests have signed up to experience Chengdu's international style, Chinese style, and Bashu charm firsthand.
