Bangkok may be submerged within decades? Sea level | Capital | Bangkok
According to Australian media reports, the Thai capital Bangkok is currently facing a crisis of being submerged by seawater due to rising sea levels. At present, the vast majority of Bangkok is already below sea level and continues to sink.
This isolated building standing in the water is a Bangkok temple. 30 years ago, this temple was located in the center of a small village near Bangkok.
Abbot Atipanyu of the Temple:

If there were no water barriers around, this temple would no longer exist, and the waves would wash away the soil.
And these utility poles are proof of the existence of the former village here. Many locals have been forced to move out, leaving only four students in this elementary school.
Bangkok Primary School Principal Mayuri Kunjan:

This primary school used to be located in front of the temple, but it has been moved back three times. Now, the primary school is located behind the temple.
The vast majority of Bangkok is already below sea level
Bangkok is known as the "Venice of the East" and has a vast network of canals. A previous survey showed that the vast majority of Bangkok is already below sea level and continues to sink at a rate of 1 to 2 centimeters per year.

Analysis suggests that with climate change leading to rising sea levels and stronger monsoon seasons, if no measures are taken, this city may be submerged for decades.
Professor Serry Suplatid from Thailand's University of Thailand:
The entire Bangkok will come to an end in the next 100 years and sink underwater, which is scientific.

The Bangkok government has stated that they are studying solutions for drainage systems, but they cannot fight climate change alone.
Multiple coastal cities around the world are facing the threat of rising sea levels
Not only Bangkok, Thailand, is under threat. The French National Research Center and the American Center for Atmospheric Research released a joint report earlier this year stating that rising sea levels will pose a huge threat to several coastal cities in Southeast Asia and South Asia, including Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, Yangon in Myanmar, Chennai and Kolkata in India. The report points out that as early as 2100, these cities may be submerged by seawater.
