Awkward! More than half of the British regret it... British | investigation | embarrassment
According to Reuters, a latest survey released by polling firm Opinion UK on July 18th showed that the proportion of Britons who believe "Brexit is a mistake" reached a new high this month.
According to reports, due to the June 2016 Brexit referendum bringing almost no economic benefits, 57% of Britons said the Brexit decision was wrong, and 32% believed it was the right decision.
According to reports, more than half of the British people said they would vote to rejoin the European Union if a referendum were held today, while 31% said they would not join.
The opinion survey company stated that the results marked a "mild shift" since January 2021, when 49% of people said they would vote to rejoin the EU and 37% chose not to join.
British Prime Minister Sunak stated in May that Brexit is bringing benefits and cited his policies such as free ports and value-added tax cuts, stating that this will make beer and hygiene products cheaper.
Economists suggest that free ports are unlikely to boost the UK economy and their value as regional development tools may be limited.
The report points out that compared to other developed economies, business investment in the UK has hardly increased since mid-2016. Economists who support Brexit point out that capital growth was strong in the years leading up to 2016 and is bound to slow down thereafter, but business surveys point out that Brexit is one of the reasons for economic stagnation.
A survey conducted by a public opinion survey company on over 2000 Britons showed that 63% of people believed that Brexit was "more of a failure than a success", while only 12% believed that Brexit was "more of a success". Another 18% of people stated that neither is true.
