Austrian Foreign Minister: The New European Security Framework cannot "exclude Russia" as a neighboring country | Sharon Berg | pointed out | cannot | Europe | exclude | Russia
On August 21 local time, Austrian Foreign Minister Sharenberg said at an online event that the new European security framework established after the Russia-Ukraine conflict cannot "exclude Russia" because Russia will still be the largest neighbor with nuclear weapons.
According to Russia's Tass News Agency on August 21, Sharenberg said in an online live broadcast event held by Spain's Menandes Pelayu International University that European countries cannot "exclude Russia" or stop their dialogue with Russia on the issue of establishing a new European security framework after the end of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Shalenberg said, "We cannot exclude Russia, we cannot stop dialogue with Russia." Shalenberg added, "If we do this, we are likely to exclude Central Asia and the South Caucasus region as well." He also pointed out that besides the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe remains the only platform for Western countries to continue exchanging views with Russia. He pointed out, "In the future, we will need this platform."
"No matter what happens, Russia will continue to be our largest neighboring country geographically and lead in the number of nuclear warheads. Russia will still be a member of the United Nations Security Council," Shalenberg explained. "When we discuss climate change or any other issue, we cannot fail to include Russia as well."
