According to Spanish media reports on July 9th local time, Spanish football legend Luis Suarez Miramonts passed away on the same day at the age of 88.
Suarez was born in 1935 in La Coruna, Spain and began his professional career at the club. He played as a midfielder and played for many years at Barcelona and Inter Milan football clubs. He also represented the Spanish national team and won the 1964 European Championship. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest figures in the Spanish football world of the 20th century. Suarez won the Ballon d'Or in 1960, becoming the first Spanish player to receive this award and the only Spanish male football player to do so to date.
