On the morning of June 19th, a picture article titled "Mianyang university students suspected of prostitution for over 800 times, earning over 1.2 million yuan, successfully arrested by the police" appeared on a certain online platform, attracting the attention of netizens. The public security organs of Mianyang City quickly conducted a verification of the authenticity of the article and confirmed that it was false information. The Mianyang Public Security Bureau immediately designated the Fucheng District Public Security Bureau to conduct an investigation and crack down on online rumors.
The Public Security Bureau of Fucheng District has discovered through work that Tang, a man residing in Xindu District, Chengdu, is suspected of committing a major crime. At around 23:00 that evening, the investigating police rushed to Xindu District and, with the assistance of the local police, arrested Tang, who was suspected of fabricating and intentionally spreading false information.
After the examination of the public security organ, in order to earn illegal benefits from network traffic, Mr. Tang used the Internet to search for keywords such as "prostitution" at about 7:00 on June 19, and automatically generated a false article using a software with the title of the article searched. Subsequently, Tang pieced together several out of town images into fake articles and published them on a certain online platform, causing a large number of netizens to watch and causing negative social impact.
