Approaching the "most beautiful" workers on the construction front line, spending a whole day under high temperatures. Construction site | project | laborers
Since the beginning of summer, many areas have been experiencing sustained high temperatures. In hot weather, many builders stick to the front line and sweat on different positions. They are the "most beautiful" laborers on this scorching summer day.
At the construction site of Xuchang Ring Expressway in Henan, more than 300 workers from China Railway 15th Bureau are accelerating project construction. On the construction site, from the accuracy testing of pile foundation drilling to the progress of concrete pouring, 35 year old project deputy manager Xiao Wei carefully inspected each process. Under the sunshine, beads of sweat as big as beans kept slipping off his cheeks.
"Leaving the air-conditioned room and commanding on the front line" is Xiao Wei's requirement for himself. Every day at dawn, he comes to the construction site to hold project safety production meetings, sort out work processes, remind safety precautions, and closely monitor each construction process. He often stays on site for a whole day.
"No matter how high the temperature is, the standards for ensuring project quality cannot be lowered." Xiao Wei said that although the construction work is hard, seeing the road gradually extending forward will give a sense of satisfaction in his heart.

In July, in Dongying, Shandong, the outdoor heat wave was scorching. At the construction site of a protruding container terminal project in Dongying Port District, the young men from the project engineering department of China Railway 14th Bureau were fully armed, wearing long sleeves and thick gloves, busy in the hot steel and cement room, with their cheeks tanned and shiny from the sun.
On the construction site, project leader Li Wei inspected safety hazards item by item in each process. Due to the hot weather, safety hazards are prone to increase. We need to repeatedly inspect every process and construction site to ensure everything is safe. As the construction site in the port area is completely exposed to direct sunlight, the road surface temperature is even higher than the temperature after prolonged high-temperature baking. Under the steaming heat around, Li Wei's work clothes were soaked in sweat, depicting layers of "saline alkali land".

Suzhou, affected by both the rainy season and the beginning of the summer, has become particularly humid and hot, and frontline workers have also ushered in a challenging season. At the construction site of the Woditan Rolling Stock Depot of Suzhou Metro Line 8 of China Railway Tenth Bureau, Yang Ming, a steel reinforcement worker, meticulously cut the steel bars on the processing platform. His work clothes were soaked in sweat, revealing color blocks of varying shades.
"Steel reinforcement processing is a delicate job and also a 'dangerous job'. If one's energy is not concentrated, the machinery may harm oneself. The processed steel reinforcement does not meet the accuracy requirements and can also 'harm' the project when used in engineering," Yang Ming said. At the age of 45, he has been working in the construction industry for more than 20 years, and "maintaining composure and not being careless" is something he often says to his colleagues.
On site, Yang Ming needs to process 1.2 tons of steel bars every day. With exquisite craftsmanship and highly focused patience, he cuts, arranges, and welds steel bars to ensure the stability and structural strength of each steel bar used for construction are safe and reliable.
A hundred kilometers away, in Taizhou, Jiangsu, the construction site of the 9th section of the Shanghai Chongqing Chengdu high-speed railway Shanghai Nanjing section. Various specifications of steel columns, steel bars, and other building materials are neatly stacked, with the roaring motors of large lifting machines and transportation vehicles coming and going. Workers are carrying out the construction of the 168 meter continuous beam arch abutment of the Tongtai Yangtze River Bridge.
"Although the heat is unbearable, in order to speed up the progress and ensure the rapid progress of the project, the workers are sticking to their respective positions," said Jiang Hong, the project leader of China Railway 11th Bureau. In response to the recent high temperature weather, the project department promptly adjusted the construction plan, made scientific scheduling, and prepared heatstroke prevention and cooling materials such as cooling oil, Huoxiang Zhengqi water, and physiological saline for the workers. This not only ensures the physical health of the construction personnel, but also does not delay the progress of the project.
In the scorching heat of summer, more than 500 builders from China Railway 17th Bureau are busy at four construction sites at the Qixingping Tunnel construction site of the Kangyu section of the West Chongqing high-speed railway.
Summer construction, heatstroke prevention and cooling work is of utmost importance. The project department strives to ensure the construction progress by adjusting the work schedule and staggered construction. "The hot weather is an objective difficulty, and it is necessary to ensure the completion of daily tunnel excavation tasks while doing a good job in heatstroke prevention and cooling." Luo Haixiang, the person in charge of the first division of the project, shuttled between various processes and work points, checking the production quality of steel mesh, the flatness of the initial support of the tunnel, and the standardized operation of the double arm rock drilling platform truck

Over the past 26 years of work, Luo Haixiang has participated in the construction of multiple transportation infrastructure projects, including the Beijing Kowloon Double Line, Fuxia Passenger Dedicated Line, and Baolan Passenger Dedicated Line. "Rooting in the front line is hard work, but it is our duty to stick to the construction site and ensure the quality of the project," he said.

In July, in Guangzhou, the heat wave on the construction site of the Guangfo East Ring Intercity Railway project was even more intense.
As a senior worker of China Railway 16th Bureau, 52 year old Li Siqing has been working with this construction site for 7 years and currently mainly leads the team in charge of steel bar installation. "Considering the high temperature factor, we are now starting work at 5am and leaving before 9am. We will continue working at 4pm and race against the sun, with no delay in our progress."
Although the words were easy, the steel touch in front of Lao Li's eyes was already a bit hot. Under the high temperature, he fixed, circled, and tightened nearly 3000 steel bar binding points in his hands every day, just like a little girl flipping a flower rope.
The Guangfo East Ring Intercity Railway is an important connecting and backbone line of the Pearl River Delta intercity rail transit network. After completion, it only takes half an hour from Guangzhou South Station to Baiyun Airport. "This is a century old project that cannot tolerate any negligence. Especially when working in such a hot and stuffy environment, it is even more important to focus on ensuring the quality of the project," said Li Siqing.
