Apple is rumored to launch Watch X as soon as next year, claiming to be the most innovative watch device in a decade | Apple | Watch
Apple has been exposed to have released a commemorative version of the watch on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of its launch.
On August 13th local time, Bloomberg reported that Apple is developing a special edition watch for the 10th anniversary of the launch of the Apple Watch next year, modeled after the previous iPhone X, perhaps named "Watch X". The watch will have the largest innovation to date and is planned to be launched in 2024 or 2025.
Apple released its first generation Apple Watch in 2014 and went on sale in 2015. There have been no significant changes so far, maintaining the rhythm of one small upgrade per year. Apple did launch an impressive new Apple Watch Ultra last year, which stimulated the upgrade of high-end products. According to Apple's financial report, for the third quarter of the 2023 fiscal year ending on July 1, Apple's revenue from wearable devices, home devices, and accessories was $8.284 billion, an increase of 2.4%, maintaining a growth trend.
According to reports, Apple designers are designing a thinner case and exploring ways to change the connection between the strap and the device. Starting from the initial Apple Watch, the strap is embedded at both ends of the dial and connected to a locking device. Maintaining the same design can make the wristband compatible with both old and new models, but this approach has its drawbacks. People involved in the development of the new Apple Watch told Bloomberg that this design takes up a considerable amount of space, and it would be better to fill the space with larger batteries or other components.
It is reported that Apple is exploring a new magnetic connection system, but it is currently unclear whether it will be used in the Watch X version. In addition, the Watch X may adopt a Micro LED display, which has colors and clarity surpassing current OLED screens. It may also be the first Apple Watch with blood pressure monitoring capabilities.
Bloomberg reported that within Apple, executives have been considering abandoning this slow but stable annual upgrade cycle, and discussions have not yet delved deeper.
As usual, Apple will release the new generation of Apple Watch and the second generation of Apple Watch Ultra at its autumn launch event in September this year. According to Bloomberg, the launch date for this year is set for September 12th, and there will be no major updates to the new watch. The watch size will remain the same as the previous generation, and the processor is expected to be upgraded. Multiple color schemes may be added to the watch.
